Star Trek Adventures Char Sheet: Momentum & Threat Fields?

Just curious - does anyone know why there are Momentum and Threat bubbles on the STA character sheet? My understanding of the rules are: 1. Threat is a global resource not specific to any player, managed by the GM, and 2. Momentum that's not used immediately after the player's successful Task roll may be "converted" to immediate Momentum - another global resource not specific to any player, managed by the GM. Did I overlook something in the rules? Has there been a change in subsequent supplements? Thanks, in advance.
Probably a little late to the game in terms of reply. You are right in the point of Threat, this is the GM's version of momentum which they track by themselves though isn't hidden from the players in general. In regards to momentum, you are partially correct. Any successes past the number needed to complete a given task are converted to momentum, this can either be used immediately by the player making the task roll or "banked" as a group resource. The group "pool" of momentum has a maximum limit of 6 and degrades by 1 momentum per scene, this would be the reason for the 6 bubbles in the momentum section of the character sheet. This is a largely ineffecient method of tracking momentum because it requires all players to separately track the pool.
