The current form of compendium is relatively new on Roll20. The original way to do this is with handouts, using links and archiving to keep down clutter in your journal. As someone that prefers running games in an "unsupported" system, I do this already. The most convenient way (or how it has worked well for me) is to create a base game with all your information. Don't play in this game, but copy it anytime you start something new. As long as you keep the base game updated, it is always ready to go. My current base game for Palladium Fantasy has 1200 archived handouts, leaving only some of the most commonly needed ones and a table of contents visible in the journal. That is an entire game system with all spells, skills, bestiary, etc. It would be nice to have a central database that you can update and have it update in all your games. The last (as far as I know) dev comment on that can be found here: https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/8946229/
