Your thoughts on sharing maps

Ok, I am running some pathfinder from a module at the moment and I have made maps to go with it based on the maps that are actually printed in the module. What I would like to know is it likely that I'm going to annoy people if I share what I made? Some I have painted up myself from scratch and some I have frankensteined from scanned tilesets that I own and bits that I have found around the internet (open source stuff I think, but can't guarantee it - wouldn't even be able to tell you where i found most of it).

I have no intention of selling them, I purely want to help the community but obviously I don't want to break any laws and I feel like I'm already on dodgy ground just writing it down!

Cheers

File sharing of that nature is actively not allowed in the forums. The devs have the following

Code of Conduct
No Piracy Allowed
We will not allow the encouragement or distribution of pirated works. This is not meant to target the showing of interfaces or fan work accomplishments -- only actions that undermine the rights and property of others.
and the use of purchased or found tiles might go against that but saying that, I've seen them tell people that if you own all rights to it aka you are the original artist then please place them in the marketplace for everyone's use. I think a mod will be around to explain it in more detail if it is needed.

There are various website that deal with someone making maps and posting but I don't have the links handy.

There's several copyright problems with the sort of image you described, Beth.

First, Paizo more than likely holds a copyright on the design & name of a dungeon/map. Then the tilesets you scanned in, probably distributed by Wizards of the Coast or Paizo, those tiles are copyrighted as well. Images you find on the internet, unless specifically indicated by the artist as open source, are copyrighted to the artist.

Maps that you've assembled by yourself are still using copyrighted source material and thus would be infringement if you shared them.
Yeah that's what I figured. Thanks guys :)
