Hello Roll20 I am working on a rework of the repeating spells section for the AD&D 2E Revised (Red) sheet. My goal is to add more fields so that more properties of each spell can be recorded. After that I am planning to make a dropdown of spells so that when a player picks a spell from the dropdown all the fields will be auto filled. I have the following two design proposals: One good thing about the Current design is that the start of each spell is clearly visible by the large Spell Name field. Two column design: Pros Cons Larger fields, allowing for better readability, particularily Range and Area of Effect is easy to read Each spell takes up a lot of space Loses the feeling of a "start of new spell" by not having a large 'Spell name' field Cast time is "hard to find" due to no header Three column design Pros Cons Takes up a little less space than two column design Better keeps the feeling of a new section by having a larger 'Spell name' field Cast time is easier to find as it has a header Still takes up a lot of spaced A little less readable due to smaller size fields A common problem with both of these designs is the exclusion of headers / titles for each field. Once the field is filled out, and the placeholder text is removed, it can be hard to tell what data goes into what field. See example here where the fields have been filled out: I am not that great at designing, and I feel limited by the layout of previous developers to keep 3 primary columns of spells, as removing a single columns would result in players losing data. Reducing the primary spell columns to 1, would allow be doable as the three current columns could be stacked on top of each other for more room for headers. This would however move spells around, which might not be desireable but it is a small annoyance. To be honest I am open for all suggestions! Any combination of primary spell columns, and columns for the spell attribute fields is welcome! I hope someone can crack the code on this and come up with a really good design that clearly lets the player see their needed information for a spell, while not taking up too much space.
