I am super new to the DnD thing and I been trying to use google to learn as much as I can before jumping in but I am nervous to just try and get in a group even if it says "new people welcome" without having some sort of practice. That being said, I feel like it goes without saying I've not used Roll20 yet, I actually made this account just now to specifically make this post. I want to do Text Only because I personally think I would prefer the immersion, I am very much interested in the RP side of DnD, but personally don't feel super comfortable RPing over voice and video (especially with people I don't know), but also I like to get to use it as practice writing more detailed stuff as well. Anything is helpful though even if you've just got tips they are very much welcome!
