Compendium Items as addons

Hello all, not sure if this belongs as a new suggestion or in with the custom compendiums already suggested but either way here goes. I am currently planning a D&D 5E game that takes place in a different setting/time, specifically a Homebrewed Steampunk world. This world in question doesn't have longswords and halbards and such, it has sword canes and knuckle dusters etc..  My suggestion is, if possible, make the Weapon, Armour, and Adventuring Gear addon tables rather then just part of the SRD compendium so, as a GM, I can load up the tables relevent to the world and the players will only have access to the compenium pages linked to the addon table. I know this suggestion could only work if we were able to create our own compendium pages for said Weapon, Armour, and Adventuring Gear tables and would have alot less value if we remain unable to do so, however I still feel this suggestion has some merit. Thank you all for your time,
