I'm pretty sure this is unintentional, since players can't replace their own tokens without the DM's help. It's annoying and always accidental.

Players can drag their own tokens on to the map from the Journal if they have permission on the character sheet. It's very handy for things like Conjure X spells, Shapeshifting and spell templates if you don't have API access.
