[LFP]{Free to Play][5e] Two player slots available for a 7-player game

1614286584

Edited 1614294293
UPDATE: May opt to only add 1 additional player; bring your A game when expressing interest so that the existing party can get a small taste of the flavor you'll bring. Read more about the campaign below: If you enjoy campaign arcs that are more than just hack-and-slash, but involve a lot of collaborative storytelling and interactivity between characters and NPCs, puzzles, and the like, then you might enjoy Lockdown Breakout. Synopsis: It started out as the remnant of a band of mercenaries called Ebon Fist, imprisoned and slated for execution, making their daring escape and trying to make sense of why they were singled out so brutally, when all they were doing was guarding a merchant caravan en route to a trade city - milk run duty, it pays the bills, but no glory or glamour involved. Out of a company measured in dozens, only a handful remained. Fugitives from the law (though that has softened in subsequent game play) they still are seeking answers: Who ordered the hit on the Ebon Fist? Why was the group singled out for such brutal treatment? What will it take to re-establish the surviving members' good names and fortunes? What vengeance options exist, and who are the targets? There are also some lesser questions: What are we gonna do for cash? Where and how do we get the best gear? What is the most amusing but still plausible / practical way we can resolve the current mini-crisis? If you enjoy playful but sometimes serious role playing, and are looking for a good mix of D&D canon and brand new material, this might be something you'll enjoy. Note that if you are accepted as a potential new player, you'll be expected to attend a "Session 0" where you'll meet the party as an existing NPC, to get a sense of where the story is at, and what the group dynamic is like, before you'll create a character that's the same level as the rest of the group, and inducted in equipped with the best plot armor the DM can provide. The only restrictions on races and character classes are: the DM must either already own the required manuals / materials, or have been jonesing for an excuse to get them, in order to provide a proper reference. No murder hobos. Murder hobos will be humiliated by the DM and mocked by the current party, while being comprehensively thwarted in their ultimate goal of sowing dissent for sadistic personal pleasure. You have been warned. Evil alignments are restricted to Lawful Evil. The party has standards, and if your character doesn't at least have a code that enables some measure of compatibility, this relationship just isn't going to work. That's pretty much it. The party meets on Friday evenings, 5PM Central. Still interested? Reply back and let's chat. Thanks!
what are the day and times?
I am interested in joining depending on day and time as well. I have been playing D&D for 10 years and dming or about 5 years.
I updated the posting with the times; take a look?

Hey James! Your game peaked my interest, so here's a little bit about me and the character(s) I'd be interested in playing. There's not much info on the campaign (or the state of the party,) so I am totally willing to shift around and I am comfortable playing pretty much anything. My name is Dany, and I am currently a game design student at university focusing primarily on TTRPGs (ha!) I've written a few one-shots and wrote an indie RPG, so I would say I am totally a fan of TTRPGs and collaborative storytelling in general. My entire Saturday (basically) is dedicated to D&D and Pathfinder, but I find myself going stir crazy and needing even more! This game would take place at 4pm my time, which fits neatly into my schedule.  While Pathfinder is my main game, I run a weekly campaign on Saturdays for D&D 5e, where I also make my own battlemaps, so I am a bit versed in that system as well but I may be a little rough around the edges. I like building my characters with a good mix of optimization and storytelling bits, so that I am able to at least roleplay while also being able to participate in combat.  On that note, here are my loose character ideas. Urk, The Goblin King: A goblin rogue who has convinced himself that he is of royal blood. Stopping at nothing to make his title a reality, Urk works with those who would further his own goals, knowing that even the pink-skins can be admirable companions if given the chance. He also knows that killing randomly is a quick way to die, and thus knows when to stay his blade. Selinette Rose, the Squire: A paladin squire, abandoned by her fallen master, travels and adventures in search of him in order to bring him back to the light. Sworn to defend those weaker than her, she upholds justice as she sees it. She sees herself as judge, jury, and executioner, and is not too shy to stand her ground when confronted with a conundrum. Thanks for this opportunity! I have found that I mesh well with pretty much any group, and I am upfront if things aren't working out. I don't imagine I'll get too busy, but sometimes life comes up and I have to make a priority for other things. Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing back!
The party currently consists of: a multiclass Rogue / Artificer / Warlock with an Archfey patron and Sprite familiar, originally from Eberron but captured during the aftermath of the great war and sold into slavery after being forced to cross over via the Portal Between Worlds into the Isles, where her cunning and Artificer skills eventually gained her legal manumission from servitude, and whose rogue skills and connections got her inextricably tied to the remnants of the Ebon Fist, as part of the group that helped them escape. a former pirate sailor / head chef Tiefling flame sorceror who both doesn't know they're a Tiefling (baseline human in appearance except for a really amazing tan) and barely knows they're a sorceror (and a good one at that) - everything is in the will of the Gods, who favor him when he does good things, as penance for his former life of piracy a Dragonborn barbarian who is haunted by the memories of the clan who sold him and his brother into serfdom to provide sustenance and a chance of survival for the clan. Both were effectively sergeants in the Ebon Fist prior to the massacre; when the remnants were taken prisoner, his brother wasn't in that group, so there's still a chance  he might be alive somewhere. He's not exactly a murderous soulless killing machine... but killing machine he very definitely is, and the very large soul he possesses has some... issues... to work out, preferably behind a tankard of ale (or a tun of it) or behind the very effective and intimidating glaive he carries at all times. A changeling monk bounty hunter, whose physical skills and proficiency in unarmed fighting are only matched by her ruthlessness and attractiveness. Operating on both sides of the bounty hunting profession, willing to take on targets both official and underground, she's established herself variously as a common folk hero, scourge to corrupt nobility, and life-giver to dying but salvageable tavern parties. A Paladin of Kelemvor whose faith and reputation have seen better days, and whose trajectory may trend in either direction, depending on the company he keeps, and how they and he reconcile the challenges ahead. Raised by well-meaning parents steeped in the lore of Kelemvar and other gentle Gods, he is questioning the path of justice as a viable means to the end of a better world for all. Fearsome in battle to foes and friends alike, he realizes that things can always get worse, but hopes they'll get better somehow, if only he could be granted some kind of sign. There are also an eclectic mix of NPCs, one of which you might play during your Session 0 to get acquainted with the group, before choosing which of your existing characters to adapt, and/or choosing a new one that seems to gel well with the group. Hope this helps!

Hello there! This seems like a super awesome campaign to join. My name is Jay  (25+) and I'm a relatively new player to DnD (for 3 months now) but truly love it. What sort of characters I have in mind is first Ayla, who is an Aasimar Peace domain cleric. She doesn't remember her past at all except for a few pieces here and there. She doesn't know that she is an Aasimar (until maybe a rough fight where she uses Radiant Soul for the first time). Yet, she hears this voice that is constantly guiding her and doesn't quite know what it wants or what it is just yet but she knows it's linked to her past. The other character I have in mind is an Aasimar Grave domain cleric named Olren. He is an odd young character which being a watcher over the line of life and death can do to someone. He wanders around healing those on the brink of death and helping others cross over. He is a rather quiet and gentle soul until something threatens the sanctity of death or desecrates the blessings of death. Wielding the hammer he used to nail coffins shut, he doles out punishment to those who threaten the beauty of life and death. Protecting those from an untimely death and hastening to the grave those who cross him. Any of these backgrounds can change to accommodate the campaign story and where its at and where it plans to go! Again would love to join this campaign :) BTW my profile picture is of the drawing I did for Ayla. I do often draw the whole party of the campaigns I have been apart of simply for the fun of it.
Hi James, just a quick precision before I wrote an application, I assume by 5pm Central you mean CST and not CET? ;)
Central Time, US. Chicago, for example. Does that help?
Yep thanks. Too bad, seems like really fun settings but it would mean I'd have to start the game at midnight on a Sunday night. Too late for me! Have fun ;)

Hi James and Friends! I'm Keira, a 46 year old longtime player very interested in your campaign in progress. Time zone:   CST  A little about yourself :  Long time nerd and gamer. I like videogames, board games, reading fantasy and sci-fi, collecting rocks, and writing, among other things. I'm married with a cat. My career is refurbishing used "treasures" form jewelry to furniture and reselling them. I'm looking for adventure and community and prefer a playing group who consider themselves friends, communicate frequently between sessions, and support each other.  How long you have been playing D&D :    Nearly 30 years, on and off. I've played all the editions but am not a rules lawyer and have never GMed. I don't like to argue about rules in the middle of the game. What do you like most about a D&D campaign :     Collaborative worldbuilding and exploration, characters with interesting and rich backstories to share and unravel, a plot that weaves together the backstories to keep everyone anchored in the world and connected to each other, mature roleplaying. What do you least like in a D&D campaign :    Avoidable player conflict. I want everyone to have fun and feel like they're playing with people who support them and their character's journey. If another player does something questionable, I want other players to be willing to discuss the problem in a mature way. Also not a fan of campaigns/parties that are too silly or too soap opera dramatic. It's hard to describe where the line is, but at a certain point it's less a "serious" game and more of a romp. Describe your playstyle and roleplay style :   Engaged, communicative, and generally low drama (with varying levels of success). I'm more serious versus slapstick in terms of the characters I enjoy getting into and don't like playing "funny/joke" characters for long-term campaigns. As I mentioned above, I'm not a rules lawyer, nor am I interested in breaking the game through devious character builds, exploiting loopholes, or other shenanigans. I'm also a big proponent of the GM having fun, too, so I reject the notion of "players against GM" or wanting to "Screw over the GM". I love using text RP in between sessions when available. Briefly describe a typical PC you like to play :   I enjoy complex characters who can get along with other party members, even if they don't always agree with them. I generally write a lot of backstory for the GM to work with and incorporate into the game. I do tend towards caster or GISH builds. I've been trying to branch out a bit, but I think I'll always love spellswords the best. I don't like playing evil characters, myself, but I enthusiastically support anyone who can pull them off well and make them relatable. A few concepts I have kicking around: - Yuan-Ti Sorcerer (neutral, not evil)  raised by his human family and uncertain of what he is and what that means. His mother was in the picture early on in his life, but once his father realized that he was being manipulated and that there was something very wrong with his mother, she was sent away. He is very nature magic-oriented, with an affinity for poison and acid spells, herbalism, etc. - Friendly Elvish or Gnomish necromancer paleoarchaeologist. She doesn’t work with the dead for power. She works with them to learn about ancient peoples, how they moved, fought, lived, and died. Cliche necromancers are grotesque to her. - Human Blood Hunter Lycan scholar of mythology and folklore who seeks to understand the source of her lifelong curse/blessing and her own origins. If I sound Like a good fit for your group I'd love to hear from you. My Discord is:  TeaMistress#5893 Feel free to message me here or there with any thoughts or questions. :)
