Persistent Grand Campaign, Accepting Players

I am a long-time GM looking to bring the joy of D&D to more players (and hopefully broaden my horizons and look to tell stories professionally, through book publishing and paid DMing) This campaign has been 10 years running, and began with a group of highschool players. Since then, at least 40 different players between 8 groups have passed through this world. The decisions players make in the campaign persist in the world indefinitely. The friends and enemies you make continue on in the world until they die, even long after you have stopped playing. When you join this campaign, you are taking part in a world that has been built with the help of every player that came before you. When you act in it, you effect it for all the players after you as well. Multiple campaigns are played simultaneously in the same time frame, and some players have multiple PCs operating in different parts of the world at the same time. All player characters are level 8, and stay that level for the entirety of the game. Instead of levelling up, players progress their characters and build stats by taking action and roleplaying in game. New abilities are learned by finding a teacher, or experimenting yourself. Skills are progressed through study and practice. Spells are learned from reading and research. There are hundreds of avenues to take to progress your story and build your character, all it takes is creativity and curiosity on your part. Create a level 8 character, and join one of many ongoing campaigns, or set out on your own journey. There are so many ongoing, intertwining events that you're bound to be wrapped up in a storyline or meet other players eventually. Negotiate peace between gods, demons and dragons. Participate in hundreds of overarching storylines and conflicting faction interests, and uncover the mysteries of ancient races and technology. Fight back the tides of the shadow realm as they attempt to break free of the shade and merge with the material world. Delve deep into the ancient dwarven waterworks as the modern workers attempt to restore it to working order, and uncover long-kept secrets while Kobolds, Drow, cults, and crime syndicates vie for territory. Commune with higher dimensional entities, and bind your mind, body, and soul with unfathomably powerful meta-beings. Participate in politics and intrigue, as you expand your own empire, cartel, cult, mercenary or merchant guild, etc Fight long-term conflicts alongside or against other players, as you all set out to pursue your own conflicting goals or shared interests. Want to join? Inbox me on discord @ Bubbasmack#2651 and we can help create a custom character, flesh out a backstory, and build you a PC that you'll love to play as.
The link doesn't work for me. I don't quite understand your "level-up" mechanic. Instead of leveling up and gaining features/spells on the long rest after, you essentially split them up into individual upgrades you have to achieve through training? So you do level up over time (hp, spellslots, spelllevel, class features) but not in name? Doesn't that cause issues when more experienced level 8 characters try to work with newer level 8 characters?
I have sent a friend request on discord,   You have my attention :D I hope my ideas help you in any way

The way we play, after building your character, further feat progression or spell learning is not restricted by class. Been a sorcerer all your life, and suddenly want to take up the blade or learn uncanny dodge? You can do that. Only able to use light armor, and find a suit of heavy armor you think would suit you better? You can wear it and only receive half the AC bonus until you have become comfortable with it's weight and movement in it, and now you have feat allowing you to wear heavy armor. A barbarian can find a druid in the woods who may unlock his magical ability, allowing him to cast spells. This works better for our style of gameplay over "You have gained enough xp from killing things to level up," and gives players real goals for their characters. Plus, this is much more balanced than a player consistently having their plans thwarted by some lvl 16 PC The link doesn't work, so it's best to contact me through discord. Sent you a request on Discord.  I'm excited to learn more about your world, but I do have two questions: 1) What edition is your baseline?  5e? 2) What is the play schedule like?

The edition is 3.5, but you don't need to know the rules to enjoy playing. I'll help create your character. And, we have three groups, we meet when the majority of players are available on regularly scheduled weekly sessions
Hello! Sent ya a friend request on Discord. Any excuse to actually, for once, play a Swordsage is a good excuse. Never had a successful 3.5 campaign and haven't went looking in a hot second. Hoping to break that trend with this group.~
