Gith are the only new race introduced in MToF. There are new subraces for Tiefling, Elf, and Dwarf. Most of the info in the book regarding player options is flavor regarding the races. For instance, there are large sections on Halflings and Gnomes that don't offer any new mechanics. There are also a lot of new monsters, which make it an excellent source for DM's.
