Who DMs: I am the Mediocre DM in question and I am looking for one or two players for a longish-campaign. Game/Play style: The game style is a fairly standard mix of combat, RP, with a little exploration and the like. I aim to keep things in character, but things tend to get fairly meta now and then. I would say the general game style is, ideally, more focused on having fun at the table with some RP and some combat and some other stuff, as opposed to "super serious RP" or "super super strategic Warhammer-5D-Chess combat strategy". Basically, we're pretty bog standard, generic in the sense of game style. Self perceived DM strengths and weaknesses: I'm fairly good at combat encounters (the easy bit). I'm awful at improv (so if you make me invent NPCs spontaneously, expect a minute of "errming" and "arrming". I am awful at voices (but that's not going to stop me from trying). I have a fairly bad memory, so if you don't write things down on your character sheets, don't expect me to remember them. Other Expectations (super non-exhaustive as lists go): - I am not [insert famous DM name here] and I never will be. - There will be consequences to character actions, good and bad. - When DMing I like to avoid going too far into "soft and fluffy" and I refuse to go into "utter horror and depravity" (although destruction of cities and nations is fine). - Characters are not expected to necessarily get along perfectly, there might even be tourneys and sparring, but we're not really into all out PvP, unless a certain party member does stupid in a consistent manner [twitches] . - I like punctuality. What is the setting: The campaign runs in a fairly bog-standard home-brew world which I created because most standard settings are too rich, too all encompassing and too big for me. The setting has four or five kingdoms, and tends to use standard races. It's ultimately not that important at this stage. Homebrew rules. -We use 2d10 for core roles instead of 1d20. Needless to say that this changes everything ever. For class features that rely on expanded crit range, these are modified to keep things statistically consistent. - There's a few others, but those are minor in comparison (eg 1 or 2 extra feats for extra character customisation, slow healing, etc). Races, classes and so on: I prefer if people use standard races and PhB/Xanathars classes/subclasses because of the insufferable power-creep we see in Tasha's. Also I prefer if people do not come to me with long and involved homebrew classes. I do not trust them to be balanced, and I do not have the time of day (literally, I don't have time!) to review all of them. If you are keen on testing all the super cool stuff from Tasha's or Unearthed Arcana or the like, this is probably not the game for you. State of the game: Currently the party has 2 characters at level 6, and is near the end of a story arc. Once the arc is over we may continue with the campaign, or start with an entirely different arc, which may or may not be related to the previous arc, but will be at a similar level. Time and day: 7:30-11PM GMT+1. Platform: Discord + roll20. Obviously there's a lot of stuff which I've left out, but I am interested in finding folk that mesh with the group, so at this stage I'm leaving out a bunch of details. If you're interested please PM me.
Oh wow! This sounds amazing! Here take my money and WHERE DO I SIGN UP ?
