"War is gathering in the dry brown hills known as the Wyrmsmoke Mountains. As midsummer settles over the land, smothering everything in heat and dust, the fierce warriors of the Kulkor Zhul—‘People of the Dragon’ in the hobgoblin tongue—gather beneath the dreaded Red Hand banner, ready to sweep down out of the Wyrmsmokes and conquer the human lands below. Your characters face an onslaught of fire and steel the likes of which few have ever seen.” Hey folks! I’m currently recruiting players for an ongoing campaig. The Red Hand of Doom is a classic 3.5 adventure module designed for characters level 5-10 adventure that will involve the party racing to stop an evil goblin army from sweeping through the region. The adventure has been updated for 5e and is more combat oriented, but rest assured there’ll be plenty of NPCs and role playing opportunities throughout the adventure. The time slot is Wednesday 6:30 PM - 11:00 PM (EDT) with up to three 10 minute breaks The rates are $10 per session with the first session being free so you can see if the group and game are to your liking before you commit with your wallet. When it comes to paid games I believe the DM should be transparent about what they offer and what their intents and motivations are. Personally, I love DND. Been playing and DMing for over 4 years now and ever since the pandemic hit I’ve started running paid games as a way to help pay the bills while doing something I love. Ever since I started doing this the games I run are much more enjoyable, not just for me but also the players in my groups. Attendance is never an issue since there’s a financial stake and I’ve never canceled a game due to lack of players. Also thanks to the money I receive I’ve been able to upgrade my roll20 sub to pro allowing me to utilize API, dynamic lighting, and purchasing of assets/modules/and other fun goodies that help make the game run smoother. At the end of the day, I’m just so happy that I can run these games knowing attendance is never a problem. One of the worst feeling as a player or DM is getting excited for the next game only to have it be cancelled at the last minute or even worse get ghosted by a promising DM. That’s the main reason I run paid games: I just want to play consistent weekly games! I’ve definitely benefited from the payment I receive but knowing my players are gonna show up each week has been the greatest benefit by far. I’m the kind of the DM that heavily values the importance of pacing in a session. I try to make each session as episodic as I can meaning I try and make each session have a clear objective with a satisfying conclusion/cliffhanger/reveal. I rarely have sessions consisting of only RP or combat as I believe there should be a balance between the two.
