I have hex March vol 1 set that says to set roll 20 at v-hex 95x95 pixels I have set the grid type to hex but I don’t seem to be able to set pixels size  what am I doing wrong

It's there, you have to scroll down a bit. You can enter a custom value on either side of the formula.:

done that there is still a gap around the icons  this is not how the demo map makes it look

That looks like how they look when dragged out.  You need to right click>advanced>set dimensions on the tiles to set the dimensions.  It looks like his 95-96 might be just a little low.  This is how it looks to me with dimensions set to 98 x 98: Edit:  That is assuming the grid scale is still at default.
