Everyone was given a note to meet Professor Smith at 5 P.M. that Tuesday evening. Before the meeting, Banks spoke to his criminal contacts and found mention of fez wearing individuals at Lambeth, Shoreditch and the Lodging-House. He went to Lambeth to see if he could find anything, but was unable to do much besides speak momentarily to a caretaker of an apartment building. At the meeting, Smith handed the investigators their visas, tickets, and the journal of Matthew Pook- the young student who had turned into an abomination. The investigators found that Menkaph was the enemy they were dealing with, the 'Mr. Leeds' they had learned about from the Library and the letter to Mr. Devore, the murdered fez collector.
