[D&D 5e] [Free] [1/Week, Thursday] [DM Needs Players] Woodard's Crossing, a Forgotten Realms Story

Forgotten Realms Games: Thursday at 6pm Pacific First Game: Thursday 9/16 Characters must be: Relatable, down to earth, interesting personality instead of a gimmick, easy to fit into the plot and story, lore abiding for Forgotten Realms.   Players must be: Able to get along with everyone, give everyone the spotlight, do not discuss RL politics, be willing to adjust to the party and story, make sure everyone has fun, not just you. Tone : Sessions are a mix of intense and hectic action, down time for free form RP, investigating mysteries, and adventure. While the game is set in and around a town, it is not a "town RP". The heroes must work together, find allies, and protect the town from sinister plots. **Interested people should reply to this post with answers to the following: What type of character would you like to play? (personality, not class) What are you looking for in a game?** Pitch Along the northern border of Tethyr lies the town of Woodard’s Crossing, a tourist stop on the way to Amn. Alton Woodard was an arcanist of great repute and talent who had constructed a tower near the foothills. When he used a gate to transport himself into the Outer Planes, the tower exploded with magical energy. A museum and soon a trade town popped up over the ruined site. Heroes will take on the role of a citizen of Woodard’s Crossing, one who has taken a brief respite from adventure for personal reasons. They will be tested by forces that wish to destroy the town as the legacy of Alton Woodard catches up with the present day. The journey doesn’t stop in the town, however, as the heroes will travel to mysterious and deadly places around the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Themes: Dark, Mature, Adventure, Exploration, Politics Inclusive: I welcome a diverse group of adventurers. We're all looking for fun and there's only room for kindness. The Campaign: Begins with a Session 0 for character creation and world building. The story is split into two volumes, one for levels 1-15, the second for 16-20. Each volume has four acts which will run over the course of about ten weeks per act. Attendance: The game will take place once a week for eight - ten weeks and then take a 2-3 week break between volumes. Players are expected to attend each session or give a decent notice if they cannot make it as others are involved and their time should be respected as well. If attendance issues disrupt the game, the player will be notified and is welcome to step out for another player. Rules: DnD 5e with some custom rules for various mini-games or scenarios. No homebrewed races or classes from players are allowed. Characters will start new at level 1. We’ll play within the spirit of the rules, not the letter of the rules. If something doesn’t work, we’ll find something that does. The DM may tweak rules in favor of a good story and experience.  Difficulty: New players are welcome, however assistance may need to be done out of game to not disrupt the experience for others. The in-game difficulty will be average but unique/custom enemies. Combat will matter. The NPCs and factions will remember deeds via a reputation system that exists behind the scenes. Character Creation: Level 3. Any Forgotten Realms race is welcome. Stats are point-buy. Experience is awarded by milestones. No lore-breaking races. The DM I'm a huge RPG nerd. With over 24 years of GMing and playing experience, I'm happiest when storytelling. Over the years I've made my own modifications, custom settings and rules, and custom campaigns set in established settings. My most successful game was a 4e DnD Forgotten Realms campaign that I GM'd for 2 1/2 years. My goal is to be involved in a great story and put together a group of great people. Hosting is a passion of mine and I'm very patient and willing to help everyone enjoy themselves.
hello new player here.  I'd love to play a big muscled but big hearted if a bit of a scary looking guy (maybe low charisma but with good intentions thinking a barbarian who dislikes going into rage as it physically/exhausting is difficult for him) someone who can help people when they need him to but finds comfort in the beauty of the world around him despite the most dire of circumstances us central time as of posting this it's 10:10 pm if you feel I'm a good fit plese get in contact with me I'm usually available any day at 7 pm central  discord: colin_drawz#9186

Hey, hope you been having a good day. The scheduled time is perfect for me. I am looking to immerse myself into the world, i enjoy role play and making memorable moments with the party. Been playing 5e for 6 years, looking to start a new adventure. The best games are ones that players are immersed into the world, freedom of exploration, world building. Each of my characters have a unique personality to them. For this campaign I would like to play the strategist. A wise martial artist gifted with the ability to fire bend. Left on the door step of the White Lotus dojo as a child, I grew up trained by Master Iroh. A stubborn child but confident in my abilities. Unfortunately, fire is a chaotic element and needs proper control or it will burn everything in its path. As I grew to maturity and completed training, my final task from Iroh was to explore the world and find balance or the fire will consume me.
A sardonic, world weary Wood Elf. Said Wood Elf would be somewhat vindictive, carrying a grudge against the present day Tethyrians for crimes committed by their ancestors against the Elves of the surrounding woods. However, said Wood Elf if a pariah and must make ends meet in Woodard’s Crossing until he figures out his next move. (Definitely a work in progress, just wanted to throw my hat in the mix). I look for consistency in a game. I’ve played games of varying ratios of RP to combat and have been fine with all of them but I’m definitely more fond of adventures that can go the distance and not fall apart after a handful of games. Also, always wanted to play in the Lands of Intrigue.
Hi there! I'm Brian. The kind of character I would love to play would be persistently kind, relentlessly supportive, and a warrior for peace; someone who struggles with how paradoxical that is. I'm looking for a game that has combat, intrigue, mystery, and players and PCs forming bonds with one another in a meaningful way. I would love to be part of the game, so please let me know!
Hey, I'm Ken and I have been playing d&d for about 26 years on and off.  Got my start with AD&D and have been hooked ever since.  It has been a crazy ride, my first campaign, first session ever, our DM had a lycanthrope bite my character....and back then it was basically a life curse.  I would like to think that most of my characters have turned out alright, but I think the curse still has an impact on my rolls :).   I see my character being fascinated with the story of the tower and the arcane energy behind it....There must be more to the story and must be more buried deep.  I would even be so curious to take a deep dive in some of those other planes of existence.  Curiously gifted with an innate magical talent that draws me to understanding what shouldn't or cannot be understood. Looking for 1 more player!
Hey,  I'm Willie and I want to play a youthful yet inquisitive type of character. Class does not matter for me as I can play support or DD but I like to ask questions and see what isnt being seen. Most of the characters i have played always had a tragic/sad story and they were always seeking redemption through kinship or as close to it as they can get.  I have always been interested in RP and ive played 5e for a few years. I have the basics down and i would still consider my self new to playing. I am currently a DM for a local campaign for work friends but hard to line up times so always willing to try something out. The time for this game works perfect with my schedule. I really want to explore a world and see it from a POV from someone who has years of experience and to see  a story play out. I have not played Dnd online but should be easy to get adjusted.
Hi: I would like to play a sneaky sniper with a go with the flow kind of attitude. Believes in individual liberty. Don't mess with me and I wont mess with you. I enjoy games with a good mix of role-playing, problem solving and challenging combat. Discord: jlsesq#7419
Hello all, My group is almost full. Please feel free to reply here or PM me with something about yourself and then we'll connect on discord.
1 more player needed! We're doing session 0 tonight which includes a fun world building game. Reply or PM me. This group has alot of experience, so I'd like to find someone who has played for a while.
I noticed you are still in need so I would love to join. I have several years of experience playing games in the 5e system. I love playing a character that is whimsical and yet also determined to act with full seriousness when it involves a matter they deem important to them. Art and magic typically include my interests in a character. Aesthetics and beauty with consistency through abilities are typically my style.
