Issues selecting drawn shapes

I run into this issue quite often and I wondering if I am missing something or if there is some work arounds people have found out. I often draw out a shape with the Draw Shape tool to help aim a spell or some such in something like D&D but then after I have drawn it out I spend ten minutes trying to select the damn thing to try and either delete it or move it etc. I try to drag a band box out, I try clicking the edge, I click off it and on again you get the idea. Doesn't want to let me select it. Eventually I can get it to work but I was wondering if there is something specific that makes this happen or if there I a way I can deal with it with just giving up or hoping?

You can try holding down the alt/opt key when dragging the selection rectangle. That key constrains the selection to drawing objects and can make it easier to avoid selecting tokens. Beyond that, avoid very thin lines if possible. they are harder to select.
