Great game, everyone! I really enjoyed meeting and playing with everyone tonight. You guys were fantastic. Thanks again for your patients as we created characters and worked through some of the core concepts and basic rules of GURPS game play. It's certainly not the most fun aspect of any game session, but you guys stuck to it with nary a single grumble. Players for this session included: Chris as a Knight (Sword-and-Board) Leo as a Cleric (Flail and Shield) Carn (Archie) as a Scout (Heroic Longbow Archer) Tyson as a Wizard (Necromancer) After spending about three hours creating characters and equipping them, we spent another three hours playing. We didn't quite get past the first room, but we had a lot of fun trying. Tyson had to go after about two hours of dungeoneering because he actually thinks anniversaries are more important than role playing. Pffft. After Tyson was done peeing without muting the microphone on his headset (he claimed to forget), we delved into the first room of the dungeon, weapons ready. It was a narrow east-west corridor with a wide pit in the center and two doors to the south. The pit was spanned by a thin stone bridge, broken in its center. On the other side of the pit were two goblin archers, an axe-and-shield orc, and a sinister wizard. Well, at least he seemed sinister. For all the players knew he might have been a nice guy. Chris, our overconfident Knight, charged forward toward the bridge, as did the insult-slinging orc. Carn, the Scout, knocked arrow to bowstring and let loose, hitting one of the goblins. Leo, the cleric, took a knee in front of Carn and protected him with his shield from the incoming arrows. Tyson started charging an Icy Sphere. Chris managed to contain his brash urge to hurdle the broken gap in the bridge and waited on the orc to come to him. The orc obliged and met Chris in melee. At first, Chris considered a shield rush to knock the hulking orc back to his certain doom in the pit, but figured the danger of him falling off himself instead was too great. He swung his sword. It buried in the orc's shield doing almost enough damage to cause Knockback anyway. The two fought it out. On the friendly side of the pit, Carn shot down the wizard, inflicting a Major Wound, then turned one of the goblins into a pincushion. Tyson hurled his Icy Sphere at the orc on the bridge, but it blocked, frosting his shield. Tyson then started forward, charging another. Just then, another orc burst through the nearby door shouting obscenities. Or, maybe he was warning everyone there was a fire and telling them to evacuate. Who knows; no one speaks orcish. Tyson (played by GM) turned and blasted him with a six-dice Icy Sphere doing so much damage (21), it caused Knockback. The orc managed to stay on his feet, but Leo charged forward and swung his flail and a racial slur against orc kind. The orc sidestepped that, but the racial slur cut deep. He counter attacked, a swing that glanced off Leo's shield. We ended our first session there. On Carn's side of the planet, it was 5 a.m. I had a great time and hope everyone else did as well! All players received 5 character points for participation tonight, and may spend them on just about anything except equipment. For rules on spending earned character points, check out the last chapter of Dungeon Fantasy 3: The Next Level , starting on page 42. Also, check out Dungeon Fantasy 11: Power-Ups . If you'd like to wait until next session, by all means. We'll probably spend some time at the beginning editing and rewriting characters as well. Normally, I'd wait until the end of the dungeon before handing out CP awards, but we certainly had a full game session worth of play! Thanks again to all who participated. You made my first game ever on Roll20.net a fun and memorable one. Hope to see you all again next session! —Sharpe
I'm just going to wait till the end of the dungeon to see if I can spot some areas that need work and the upgrade.
