Character tokens do not represent character sheets.

Hello friends! I've been having an issue for some time now, where, if I place tokens from the Journal on the map that represent character/character sheets, that they have their settings wiped. This is starting to frustrate me, because every time my players go to a new map and I put tokens on the board I have to re-do their settings to make them able to control their own tokens and have sight with dynamic lighting and the like. This is costing me momentum in games and is just overall frustrating for everyone. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this a known issue or anything? Any help would be appreciated!

This is a common pitfall when setting up/linking a token to a sheet. The order in which you link a default token to a character is very important. If you set a token as the default before you have completed all your token setup(linking bars, vision, nameplate, etc.), the token settings will default to when you first set it as the default... so when you drag the token out on a new map, you will get the exact token settings from the time you set it as the default token. So, make sure you set everything up and the set. If you want to make additional token setting changes, remove it as the default and re-set it as the default after doing so. https://wiki.roll20.net/Linking_Tokens_to_Journals caveat: if the tokens are properly linked and the settings are still getting wiped, there may be a bug.... If so, post back some more info. Cheers

You are absolutely not dumb. This is a very common learning bump on Roll20. Once you get the concept, though, it's pretty clear how this is the desired behavior.
