Wildemount Campaign (Sundays, 2pm PST, free, LGBTQ+)

Edited 1640812254
Hey gang, I'm an amateur DM (23, he/him) starting a campaign set in the Matt Mercer's world of Wildemount. I'm looking for 4-5 players who like to roleplay and forgive DMs when they make rookie mistakes. The main focus of this game will be the story and the characters. If you join, expect NPCs tied to your backstory, plots and subplots for you to unravel, and the occasional shopping episode so I can catch my breath and get my bearings. I'd like a party who genuinely want to spend some online time with other fantasy nerds and make this a story we're all proud of; no dead discord servers here. We'll be playing on Sundays at 2 p.m. PST. We'll Discord for voice, Roll20 for Maps, and DnDBeyond for character sheets.  This is an LGBTQ+ friendly space. No bigotry or discrimination of any kind will be tolerated. If you apply, know that you're agreeing to be respectful and courteous to the other players,  and to show up focused and on time to play once a week. Here's the application form. Please fill it out and send it to me as a dm or post it on this thread. If you don't apply using the application form, your application will not be considered. Discord username: Age/pronouns: D&D exp: Why you like D&D: One fun fact: Character concept: Why is there fuzz on a tennis ball?
Discord Username:  Thalía Andréa #6738 Age/Pronouns: 47, She/Her D&D exp:  Been playing D&D since AD&D. AD&D 2nd edition and D&D 3.5 are my favorite versions to play in. Why you like D&D: it was my first fantasy setting I played in but not my first rpg setting, that would TMNT. Enjoy how in depth some of the setting our and how much contact is available.  One fun fact: D&D 3.5 favorite character was a cleric that could use Cure Minor Wounds and heal 7 to 14 hp from a spell that can only heal 1 hp Character Concept:  Socialable character. She of many faces. Uses deception and cunning to get what she needs. If that doesn't work, I knife in the back. Why us there fuzz on a tennis ball: drag force
Discord username: StaneHound#5143 Age/pronouns: 22, He/Him D&D exp: Been playing a bit more than an year now, can make and handle characters easily enough. Why you like D&D: I like the freedom it offers as a player, you can make choices and approach situations in such different ways. I like fantasy and violence, so what's not to love about good ol' DnD, eh? One fun fact: Not sure whether this is fun, but there are more chess moves possible than there are particles in the observable universe (estimated, and including illegal moves, iirc). Character concept: It's a bit hard to truly make a character without knowing a bit more about what we'll be doing. Here's an idea that I might change later: a man who used to be rough and tumble enforcer, who's now hellbent on redeeming himself and bettering himself so that he might be able to look his newborn daughter in the eye. He's not great at being good, but he can't quite bring himself to be the sort of man he used to be, not anymore. Why is there fuzz on a tennis ball? Fuck if I know, bro. To grip it better? Traditition? To cushion something? To fool the bees? The possibilities are endless. The real question is why cricket balls don't have fuzz. Thanks for your time.
Discord username: Jaime Delfín - Battlecruiser#7161 Age/pronouns: 27, He/Him D&D exp: 2 years on play by post forums, 4 years DMing 5e in the Tal'Dorei campaign setting, 1 year as a player on a homebrew setting Why you like D&D: Its in my opinion the most elegant way to combine improv storytelling with collaborative and tactical play One fun fact: Dogs get the same rush of dopamine from seeing a human as we humans do from seeing a dog. They also find us extremely cute! Character concept: A wandering monk in his twilight years, trying to find a sense of purpose in the world. A dragonborn (or ravenite if you'll allow it) who witnessed the fall of Draconia in his youth and quietly yearns for a place to call home and a family to fill the void of the one he lost Why is there fuzz on a tennis ball? Having played racquetball in highschool, which uses balls with no fuzz on them, I can think of a few reasons: because the material is resistant, cheap, and easy to fit on a sphere without distorting its shape nor affecting its trajectory too greatly, because it helps reduce the impact of the ball upon hitting, preventing it from gaining too much speed or bounce, and because it helps make it come to a stop faster once it loses its momentum and starts rolling away
Discord username: Aäsiela #8857 Age/pronouns : 32 (she/her) D&D exp : 2  years homebrew, 5 years DND 5E storm kings wrath and Princes of Apocalypse (in person and roll20)  Why you like D&D : It's a way to embrace fantasy and role play improvisation. I get to live out my fantasy dreams and kill things. One fun fact : I just found critical role in November and have been binging vox machine and talks machine to be ready for the release of their show on prime in 20 days. I made it to episode 85 today. Character concept : A fire genasi who was abandoned outside of Emon hours after her birth was found by Lokathar(Head fire tamer at the outpost of the scar of the cinder king) and sent to Pyrah to save the child from some of the prejudice of being a genasi. Raised by the Fire Ashari never quite fitting in with their relationship with nature.  Why is there fuzz on a tennis ball? to absorb the most dog drool so when you pick it up in the winter it freezes to your glove. (I'm Canadian) lol
Discord username: rowen/rex#4255 Age/pronouns: 24, he/they D&D exp: I started playing D&D 5e around 5 years ago, but I've played it on and off since. Mostly have DM experience but I'm looking for a group to join with my friend (bune_bot who will also be replying)!  Why you like D&D: I love D&D for the roleplay and the escapism! I also enjoy that it offers ways to bond with friends and spend time with people similar to me, especially as an LGBT+ person! One fun fact: Rats are ticklish just like humans! Character concept: I'm open to playing any sort of character and will happily fill a role in the group!  Why is there fuzz on a tennis ball? Soft to touch (:

Discord username: bune_bot#2439   Age/pronouns: 24, they/them   D&D exp: about a year playing, mostly DMing, less player experience (I am looking to play with Rowen/Rex sorry we are a package deal)   Why you like D&D: I love storytelling and roleplaying! In high school I used to do theatre and improve, so the roleplay aspect of DND deeply appeals to me. I’m also a serial OC creator and I love making characters.   One fun fact: (assuming a fun fact about myself) I’m an artist and I’ve been drawing since 5 th grade! (assuming a fun fact in general) cats drool when they are happy and content, which is something I have to remind myself every time my cat flicks drool all over me after snuggling.   Character concept: I have a lot of character ideas I’d love explore, anything from gladiator barbarians, monks escaping from prison, charlatan artificers trying to escape mob debts, and bladesinger wizards who’ve lived their lives on the open sea. I usually like to meet other players though and find out what everyone wants to play before making my character though so I know for a fact I’m playing a character who jives well with the group. :D   Why is there fuzz on a tennis ball? mouthfeel :)
