How do i use *video gifs* for effects (as DM)

Ok so after asking my previous question about teleport macros i got to thinking **so, i know we can - as a player - make video Gifs for our spell effects and they will show in the chat bar... But... is ther a way to do it as a DM for the party?** in the sense of, for example to bring more life to the campaign at certain moments... lets say party has used a portal system and so certain landscapes are flashing in their eyes (gif slide show of fantasy lands) ... or another example... they trigger a trap and a wall of flame appeares before them - etc Is this possible and if so, how? thank you

Are you asking if the GM can send animated gifs to the chat?&nbsp; Yes: [x]( <a href="http://some.url/to/a/gif" rel="nofollow">http://some.url/to/a/gif</a> #.png) Replace the above with the url of the image (yes, leave the #.png on the end, that lets it be detected as an image regardless of the url ending). If you're talking about putting an animated token on the map, that's also doable.&nbsp; The easiest way is to store the image as the token on a character and drag it out when/where you need it.

thats one answer, so thank you very much - but i am mainly wondering if i can do it as a *show to players* page/handout and still be animated? But sending it to chat works for the purpose, thank you so as a *character token* you mean i *make a character/npc* and then save the gif as the token (as you would a token avatar?)
I'm pretty sure the above format also works in a handout but also handouts have an upload image function too.&nbsp; My chase encounters handout massive table has an animated gif of the scooby gang being chased by a monster as an example.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Don't overuse animated gifs cause they can get obnoxious, but I say that only to then share with you THE greatest macro I ever gave my party: The code below asks you for the title, the URL of the gif(use giphy) and then text to put below it and then it spits out a meme for the party to see in chat in a template.&nbsp; Utilized heavily by my whole table every night lol.&nbsp;&nbsp; &amp;{template:traits} {{name=?{Title of Message}}} {{source=}} {{description=[Spell](?{What URL?}) ?{Text you want to have displayed below the gif}}}
