This will be the first campaign I've DMed, so if that doesn't bother you, we're off to a good start. I was originally hoping to form a group with people I know, but it turns out I don't know enough people interested in D&D. As such, I'm here to find players for what will hopefully become a long term group. I think the most important thing is that we all get on well, so I'm willing to start with some one-shots if we want to test the waters before we dive into a full campaign. New players are totally welcome, and it shouldn't be an intimidating atmosphere to learn the ropes in, since I too will be getting to grips with DMing. Where: Roll20, probably with Discord for audio. Timezone: GMT When: Weekends, preferably afternoon. With some regularity but not strictly weekly; once every 1-3 weeks would be solid. System: 5e, homebrew Gameplay: Starting at level 1, since this is my first proper campaign as DM. Intention is to make it a long running campaign, leading beyond the first story into subsequent quests. I'm keen to involve the characters in the story and worldbuilding, so I'd be looking to work everyone's motivations and stories into the broader narrative. There will be at least one Session Zero, in order to work together on character creation and establish what everyone wants from the game. I'd like a healthy balance of combat and roleplay, and I'm happy to integrate mechanics that people would be excited about (e.g. item crafting, creating new spells etc.). I'm tempted to have a degree of wilderness survival (e.g. carrying capacity, foraging etc.) involved, but I'm not married to the idea if it sounds no fun for everyone. About me: My main source of D&D inspiration is Dimension 20, for what that's worth. Outside of D&D, my interests that will inevitably bleed into my style include Borderlands and Fallout.
