Reunion For some time you have been in touch with a group of acquaintances - former neighbors, colleagues, and such, who hit it off over the years - about banding together in pursuit of your respective goals - to earn a living, at least, and perhaps to further whatever other interests you share.  The time has come and word is out that the group is getting together.  You have settled on a meeting place whose location best suits the majority, and which seems to offer reasonable prospects, and that spot is on the island of Atlantis, the fortress city of Gan Linna, which stands on the banks of the Ponta River. Some members of the group were born there and lived there their whole lives, others live elsewhere on the island, still others come from even farther afield, making the voyage from the shores of the Continent to Kronos and upriver from there.  You have timed your gathering to coincide with an annual event known officially as "The Festival of the Joyful Celebration of Lord Thestor’s Just Rulership, of Gratitude for the Protection of the Barrier, and of Acknowledgement of the Church of Truth", or, less formally, as simply the Spring Festival. Malcontent You arrive in Gan Linna to find that the mood in town has been up and down in recent weeks.  The peasants, ever malcontent, began to grumble so much that the Lord had no choice but to enact the Law Against Sedition and Blasphemy.  The exact particulars of this law are unclear because it is not possible to explain the law without violating it. Centuries Since Last Incident: 15 0 No sooner had that controversy settled down than the town was rocked by an even worse catastrophe - a river barge was lost under circumstances that were initially unclear.  Gan Linna's livelihood depends upon its reputation as the defender of the safety of the river traffic, thanks to the Hundred Mile Wall, an ancient barrier that borders the river as it passes along the edge of the Great Boread Forest, and prevents the beasts who inhabit that dark place from molesting the river traffic. The Merchant House railed at the loss of its boat and cargo (and crew).  Lord Thestor, not always the most responsive of rulers, was forced to get to the bottom of the problem, and fortunately his agents found the cause.  Before the barge set sail from Gan Linna, an apprentice at the town's boatyard made to the vessel some repairs which proved substandard, causing the boat to spring a leak and sink. The Festival of Spring Its troubles now behind it, the community breathes a collective sigh of relief, and looks forward to the festival, which promises to be a delightful event - parades, sermons and speeches, a feast, music and dance, culminating in the sentencing of the incompetent young boatyard worker who so nearly cost the town its reputation.  You and your friends come together in this festive atmosphere and prepare to embark on your adventures. I am looking for players to join a new Worlds Without Number campaign.  The group consists of a mix of veterans from previous campaigns, and new joiners.  The group is friendly, relaxed, and easy going, no rules lawyers or power gamers. We usually play every other Saturday, and upcoming games are scheduled for 26 March, 9 April, etc...  We start the game at 18.00 UTC (i.e. 7PM London time) and usually play for four hours or so with a break halfway through.  We use roll20 for desktop and Discord for voice - no video. The game is set in the Latter Earth (the default setting for WWN) and the campaign begins in Atlantis.  We play by the book with a bare minimum of house rules.  The game will be run as an open sandbox. If you are interested then please either respond to this thread or PM me, I would be delighted to hear from you!
