Is supporter worth it?

I'm considering paying for supporter but I wanna know is it worth the 5 bucks a month?
That...depends on how much you use Roll20 and if you'll find the features useful?

I would say buy it for yourself as a way to support Roll20 continuing development, or buy it for your GM or for yourself if you are a GM (for the features). So far I've just gifted it to a couple of my GM's.
Personally I'd say roll20 is worth a cup of coffee a month. And there's no way I'd give up my Burial Grounds, so I price evauate things based on are they as enjoyable as one cup of coffee or multiple coffees. :)
Personally, before I even discovered everything Mentor had to offer the addition of dynamic lighting that supporter gives was enough value for the supporter level subscription. But if it is worth it to you depends on what you want out of the service really.

Jayjay said: I'm considering paying for supporter but I wanna know is it worth the 5 bucks a month? Forget supporter, go all in and mentor , the 10 bucks is worth it. You help support something you enjoy. And in your support you get the benefits of additional content ... More room for uploads , bigger uploads, free tokens, cool effects to use in game , you can make your own character sheets. on and on. But if your budget only allows supporter , it is worth it as well.
Jayjay said: I'm considering paying for supporter but I wanna know is it worth the 5 bucks a month? Maybe. Dynamic lightning freaking rocks in the right environment, but you can still run a great game without it. The extra storage space is nice, but it took me well over a year to go over 100MB of stuff, and if I took out what I no longer use it wouldn't be a challenge to get below it. It'll depend on what I'm running next year to see if I want to re-up as a Supporter.

For me, I upgraded because I wanted to support Roll20, but the tipping factor was the Transmogrifier. I wanted to pull some of the monsters and NPCs I'd created across several campaigns into one that I was starting. THAT was awesome. Then I discovered the API. No going back now. =D
The Transmogrifier and Dynamic Lighting features alone make it worth it for me. I use both extensively.
The selling point for me was dynamic lighting. I use it for face to face gaming and project the game map using dynamic lighting to show the portions of the map that are actually visible to them. We're using miniatures placed on the table where I am projecting and just have a roll20 torch (or two) to move around for their light source. Note that you need to draw in the walls yourself for dynamic lighting to work.
Ya the dynamic lighting is the selling point for me to i'm prob going to get it soon when I get the actual D&D rule books
And I draw my own dungeons they suck but it's cool
I have been a mentor for a few months, and this is the first month without it. I miss all the features my group loved such as the scripts for the power cards, turn tracking, and my own scripts I wrote for them. I wish I had the $99 to get a whole year. Heck I would put 2 years in there if I could, I love this service that much. My group love the dynamic lighting feature, and they cant wait for a more fleshed out effects service. Yes, this service is worth the price per month, and I suggest the $10 mentor package. You have even more customization via sheets and API not to mention access to the goodies as they are being worked on.
Absolutely!
Jayjay said: I'm considering paying for supporter but I wanna know is it worth the 5 bucks a month? If you just play, absolutely support the developers If you GM, absolutely. The added space and utilities are wonderful If you GM a lot, go Mentor and go nuts with the API do do the really awesome stuff.
well worth the money. i love the dynamic lighting of course you only need it if you dm, but consider it as buying a cheap pizza to support the great platform they have created for us.
Depends on your budget. If you are just a player without a lot of money, I'd say no, don't bother - although it does support roll20 which in turn support you but looking at it from a strictly selfish perspective I'd say no. If you're a GM, maybe. I mean I didn't use Dynamic Lighting much but I felt like I owed it to roll20 when I got supporter level. I mean, let's face it, lots of game time and all, allows me to play RPGs with people even though I live far from my friends atm, lots of hours every month? Come on, just drink a few less coffees in your month :P But yeah also the extra storage may come in handy if you play with a lot of content. I'd say that the real experience comes with Mentor. I stopped for 2 months and just recently started playing again and oh boy do I love those API. I paid for a whole year. Lots of money to cough up on the spot, but well worth it.
The forums need a like button. Yeah as a player, you really don't need to pay for supporter or mentor. As a GM, if your playing with regular players, I say just ask them to Chip in. It's only 10 bucks a month, and most D&D games have some kind of GM bribe built in. IE he gets free pizza and beer since he spent saturday drawing maps so you could play a game on sunday. That's just a continuation of the tradition. I asked for money at the start of the campaign and got 60 bucks. A few guys who live near me gave me cash. We are on month 7 of my subscription. So it works out just fine.
Also API is amazeballs
K den i'm starting with suporter tho and i'm only doing a month this will be my test
<a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Custom_Power_Cards" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Custom_Power_Cards</a> This comes with Mentor.

There is no Subscriber Cartel. It is not cunningly concealed among the apparently carefree forum users of Roll20, its wiki and Virtual Tabletop. No one would suggest that its members have a political agenda within and beyond the website. Nor would anyone believe, should it be whispered, that the Supporters and Mentors collect vast sums of money and favors in order to further the goals that they doesn't have. Moreover, an organization that does not exist certainly cannot have the influence or talent pool to develop its own subtle, secret handshake. The Secret Supporter Handshake does not combine common, everyday movements with potent API scripts and macros in a devastating and nearly invisible manner. It isn't one of the Subscriber Cartel's many sources of secret power. It never sees use at the one-shots, campaigns and discussions of the Roll20 users. Students who are not learning this handshake do not believe in secrecy and the universal application of stealth. They do not train by walking on the unbroken eggshell of the dove. There is no Secret Supporter Handshake, and you would be wise to remember that fact.
Y-yes, master.

Brian, that is just genius. :)
I like the dynamic lighting and the increased storage capacity, plus...I play in a weekly campaign, so I'm all in favor of chipping in $5 a month to support the website. It's cheaper than a single mini, and if I weren't playing online, I'd be spending more than that on pewter and paint each month.

Once I knew there was not a secret hand shake, I went right to the Mentor level. I have issues with touching real people hands, Roll20 allows me to play the games I love with out the real human contact I have nightmares about.
God damn what have I gotten myself into with this website
