Any interest for 5E D&D group consisting of pure text for heavy RP?

Me and a friend are looking to either join or form a group for 5E D&D, and gauging interest for a group that focuses heavily on RP through text. VC would be fine for any OOC chat however.

I would be interested in joining if you put this together. I am fairly experienced with 5e. I have a handful of character ideas, depending on the scenerio and other characters.

I'd love to do it though I've never seen a 5e book so I'd need some info on it.

I'd love to give it a shot depending on the time, I've never tried 5e yet.

I'd most certainly be interested, given that I come from a background with a lot of text roleplay, but do you have any idea on a time/timezone yet? I'm GMT, y'see.

I would definitely play, what time are you running this? Also will you be using the system at all? Or is it all RP?

Alright I'm glad there's interest, would really only like a group of 3-4 players since there'll be a lot of text to cover all the RP. The next thing to do would be to see if any of you would like to volunteer to be the DM. I'm currently waiting on my hoard of the dragon queen book so I can't start setting up anything for now if I end up having to be the one. Although I'd much prefer being the player since I have very little experience DMing the D&D system.

I could dm 3.5 I suppose but this isn't that god knows what rules apply so 'm out... Are 5th even in stores yet??

Most stores carry the PHB, starter set, and the first module (hoard of the dragon queen) right now. You can also find the core book on PDF by wizards on their site, and there are a lot of scans of the PHB out right now.

Are you running this as a play-by-post or a real time game? My experience with text based real time games is that the fastest typist dominates the game.

I prefer to run it as a real time game, although I am open to PbP if I'm not able to find a DM for real time. I've never had that problem with any of my text groups, but if someone were to try to "dominate" a game through that, then I'd talk with the group about it and we'd settle it from there.

Ahh, I missed the part where you still need a DM. I'd run PbP, but I have no interest in running a real-time text only game. Good luck finding a DM!

I will PM you his email, he is good about responding within a day or so, I would check with him and see if his group has an opening.

I have a lot of experience running text based games, and DMing. I'm kind of an old hand at it. I'm looking to give 5e a shot (loved 3.5, didn't like 4e, never tried Pathfinder and fell in love with Fantasy Craft.) If you're still looking for a DM, I'm up for the challenge, depending on the time slot everyone's looking at.
