Star Wars - Exalted System

Here, i suggest that all eventual players discuss either setting/era/affiliation and-or characters concepts/stories.
This topic is linked to THIS campaign
I am personaly in love with the storyline set up by the Knigth of the old republic RPG and **Spoiler alert** the very subtle implication that an invasion of "true" Sith will one day strike the galaxie. **Spoiler end** As for a character I was thinking about something along the line of non-combatant character who's main fonction is crafting and battlefield control, most probably force sensitive but not a jedi or a sith. Standing on the fence of light and dark, the party will probably determine what way it will take. I'll wait to see the rest of the team layout before fleshing it out more.

I like the Knights Idea but I'm wondering if maybe we could do a Clone Wars era. You know how Anakin and Obi-wan pretty much sealed the fate of the Separatists. I'm just throwing this out here but, what if by some ill fate they did not make it on Geonosis? That opens up many different lines. We could be Separatists, we could be Smugglers, we could be republic soldiers. Possibilities and endless. As for my character I'm thinking grizzled veteran for hire, strict code of honor, fights the good fight, Never backs down, and too legit to quit.
As someone pointed out, the link-thing doesn't seem to work, to go for "looking for a group" and the campaign name is Star Wars: Storytelling System
on the gm's page for the campaign details there are a variety of options, such as list under looking for group, you can right click on that link and copy to your clipboard the link to take you to the looking for group listing for the campaign. *yawn* tired again.
All links work for me. :V
Any chance you can inform me a little bit about your homebrew? I've played Exalted 2e and it seems to lend itself well to certain homebrews but it seems like a very heavy and challenging conversion process. In particular I can see how social combat could lend itself to using Force Persuasion techniques.
Most of the differences reside either in techs (which the "Shards of the Exalted Dream" supplement comes with most replacements), energy and of course, the force. I choose to make the force a "wyld mutation" merit (which is by the way how we make all the alien races) similar in cost and function as the one in the core game for "awakened essence". The MAIN advantage of jedis/siths comes not from the force-use itself (as a guy with plenty of tech like let's say a mandalorian jedi hunter, a clone commando, etc.) but in the TRAINING and membership, backgrounds levels being used to reprensent tiers in the "orders" (when there is one) AND free levels of force powers (mainly 12 major powers, 4 light, 4 dark, 4 neutral). The virtues of Exalted remain in use and are not only pertinent for force users (as too many success on ANY virtue gains you dark side points, yeah skywalkerS...) but also for "regular" players as they still help focus on the ethics, code and / or lack of for the protagonists. I really have to translate that big 18 page document of mine... ok. I have a full baby-wife-less day tomorrow, i'll get to it in the morning. Force the persuasion techniques, it is well imbricated with the social combat system; you get the advantage of either artificial intimacies and beliefs or the capacity to squarely "possess" someone...  For the Force Powers available BY DEFAULT, they are as follows: -Universal: Telekinesis, Combat Forms (applicable to any kind of combat, really...), Prowess (physical stuff, like 150 feet jumps) and Precognition -Light Side: Regeneration, Healing (as Regeneration, but on others and as we use the MORTALS healing and infection rates, thoses are not to be triffled with), Psychic Control and Protection (from energy absorption to sphere of invulnerability, see Darth Bane's novels) -Dark Side: Rages, Vampirism/Drain (better name anyone?), Domination and Destruction (from lightnings to Deadly Shades) Want me to go on about any point especially?
There are also individual, sorcerous or species-specific powers, such as the Ithorian's Howl (pretty destructive!), a Nautolan's total empathy, Invisibility and "Alignment dissimulation". Those are to be MADE in a case by case basis as they are, in all the related media, either unique or too rare to mention. If you consider one appropriate FOR A CHARACTER, not as a speculative training exercise, i am completely open to discussion for it's establishment and costs-variations-balance-etc.

Thanks John T. for the link; i hope it helps you guys to "connect" with the game and become players in it, simply post that you wanna play so i may click on the "invite" button beside your names.
Hi all, I am really interested in the roll playing game D&amp;D.&nbsp; I have some experience but have never played as Star Wars.&nbsp; Fascinating lol&nbsp; Anyways, if interested I like the Idea of the Mandalorian era.&nbsp; I do not know the history but I think it would be a fun way to learn and experience.
This will NOT be a D&amp;D game, i'm using the Exalted / White Wolf's d10 system with some homebrew rules meant to encompass the Star Wars universe. As of now, i've received many different timeline suggestion -Right after the original movies, so we either "rebuild" the Republic or try to make our own thing somewhere in the Empire's Vacuum. "Canon" material indicates that the galaxy at that moment is split mainly into the Empire's Remnant (every general said "i'm the emperor, by-atch!" in some solar system), the New Galactic Republic (trying to be more than a bunch of rebels, and somewhat succeeding), Hutt Space (yeah, some things never ever EVER change) and some other independant groups, but more than half of the Galaxy ain't affiliated to anyone actually. -150+ After the Battle of Yavin: this brings us WAY past anything written anywhere, with either No Great Ennemy (but LOTS of small ones) to deal with as the Galaxy is split in three factions ruling togheter without any details, leaving room for MOSTLY anything, as the third rebirth of the Sith Order leaves them scattered and fractious, the Jedi have yet to settle in any orthodoxy and even the New Empire has it's order of Force Users. It also leaves great swaths of the galaxy yet-to-be brought into the fold, so lots of smallscale yet interesting opportunities for play at all levels. -The Mandalorian era is both unclear and possibly in resurgence: they are ALWAYS a factor, so the new triumviate might have to deal with the Next Mandalorian Crusade, with you on either side (or both, eh!). I would have to look a little more into the era, but mostly i already know that it was a time of Total Galactic War between Mandalore and the Republic. ...maybe even before the Great Sith War. -The Old Republic era could be interesting as it was home to hundreds of years of conflict, and force users where both more "common" and more empowered: it was a time when planets where RULED by Sith or Jedi as Kings, and the Supreme Chancellor was simply THE Master of the Order. The Emperor was also a known Sith but i think it was never know WHOM it was, actually. It's the time period explored in the "The Old Republic" MMO, and they have tremendous amounts of media on their site to explain the period, either in short or in hours and hours if you're into it. ...i was :P. It's also a period with LOTS of differences between membres of each order, as the lack of precise rules and motto made for not only a lot of internal variations (celibacy VS parenthood, acsetics VS political implication, etc...), but also a LOT of conversion from one side to the other and back again. This period is however INCREDIBLY LARGE and encompasses the "Knight of the Old Republic" games, placing it thousands of years BEFORE the Great Sith War; let's call it the First Republic. Wookiepedia includes a quite accurate little timeline of the eras, you can find it here: <a href="http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_publishing_eras" rel="nofollow">http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_publishing_eras</a>
Did i mention the "Infinities"? They are eras that DO NOT CARE about canon, so if we wanna make a period / setting that does NOT adhere in some ways or changes the official timelines, let's have fun doing it :) (but this would require a little bit more collective work).
At this point, i only have received one character concept, and from what i can tell, the "force sensitive son of a jedi turned dark whom lived by himself and grew up to be a bounty hunter" is adaptable to almost any era.
(i know, i summarized like 700 words in one sentence, but it's not intended as a "reduction" of the character's concept)
Nick I thought you had gone inactive so I left the game. I'm still interested! I'm trying to find any star wars game right now. Even willing the learn the new star wars beta.
I've got the starwars saga book will that work?
Humm... it may be useful for SOME info, but i do not know nor endorse their content right away; it's reference we may need (as it picked the hyperspace zones and engine speeds from the d20 game) but i can't say "it's all there".
Hey, what time are you Guys playing? if it is compatible with EU times i might join in :)
Since i'm mastering, and available after 19:00 -5GMT, Montreal timezone, i'd say that is most probably the hours around which we'll start, whatever day we choose.
