What makes a good DM, a good DM?

Hm. That's quite some good points! Even now I'm still going over to read them all. Thank you all for your advice! However, just one question: how do I list to the LFG? I placed my switch to ON, but I'm not sure if it's showing. Just  a quickie before I begin deliberating...
are never admitting that you're wrong There are countless That DM stories on /tg/ that revolve around the DM being adamant that he is right, even when he's saying that DR 5/blunt provides protection against being smashed with a warhammer.
Thraks K. said: 2 short and basic things I think are required to be a good DM are never admitting that you're wrong, and providing a fun, enjoyable experience for your players. I think the only group that really works is when you have a DM that will admit they are wrong.  But you also need to have players that will obey the Rule of the Golden Phallus , in that the DM has the final say on all decisions.  It is an understanding of roles and a mutual respect of both parties. The controversy comes up, players make their say on how to handle it, the DM makes a ruling, game continues.  There is nothing that will break an entire gaming session more than waiting for two rules lawyers to finish scouring through rulebooks to resolve six seconds of game play.
