Under the starry desert sky, wicked things stir. Beautiful and frozen, with faces like unchanging marble. But underneath those porcelain masks Hunger begins to writhe. GAME SUMMARY(Basics) This is a game of Vampire the Masquerade 5th Edition with some marked homebrew rules noted later, primarily using Old WoD lore with some Storyteller centric eccentricities. Ultimately it will be recognizable to the sort of setting displayed in Vampire 20th Anniversary, with a Gothic-Punk aesthetic. Sessions will be run on Sundays at around 6-7pm CDT. PLOT/PREMISE SUMMARY Of course, many secrets, twists and turns will remain hidden for our coterie to sniff out, miss, or be side-swiped and surprised by as makes sense and will come due to the rolls, however the basic premise is as follows. The year is 2020, and the nightlife of Arizona has recently flourished into new activity. Following an attempted-and failed- attempt at an S.I. purge in Tucson by CIA and NSA backed hunters, the Kindred of Arizona have been left to their own devices as the powers arrayed against them lick their wounds, providing a sense of safety and strength to those unliving ones within the Sonoran region. Whether this sense of safety is true or false matters not, for regardless many kindred have begun filtering into the state due to the perception that the S.I. has a lesser hold in the region than others, providing a sense of freedom and control that many Kindred crave, especially those who have had to burn away many false identities and leave behind domains in light of the Second Inquisition. Whether they are fleeing the S.I., inter-clan conflict, trying to make it big in the Camarilla, or establish a foothold for the Anarchs in Arizona, this gathering group in the desert has not gone without notice. The previously greater hold in Tucson and Phoenix, the two strongholds of Kindred influence in the Sonoran region, were Camarilla controlled. However, with many Anarchs seeking to either spread, or flee from, the results of the Anarch Free-State, this control is rapidly becoming contested. All of this to say that its a melting pot about to boil over. The final push to send it all tumbling down into conflict may just be a rise in supernatural sighting among the Kine of Tucson. Claims of Wendigo and 'Skinwalker' creatures among the humans have rapidly spiked in the region beyond simple hysteria. This, combined with the recent disappearance of a respected and well-liked Anarch Gangrel known as Martin Curtis, has led some to believe that The Clan of the Beast needs to be leashed in Arizona. Your Coterie has been selected by the respective power you pledge allegiance to, or perhaps by your own self interest and moral compasses, to investigate what(if any) connection all of these on goings have with each other. Figure out whats going on before a major Masquerade Breach invites the S.I. to give another try at purging the Sonoran of your kind. MECHANICAL CHANGES This game has some fairly significant changes made to the mechanics, however they are simply summarized here. The first, is that XP gain for our Coterie will be increased. Rather than 1 XP per 'Chronicle' or 'Session', for each session/day of play the Coterie will gain 1 base XP, and an additional bonus XP of a maximum of 3 for proper roleplay, etiquette observed, and accomplishing a personal story goal similar to the XP stylings of Chronicles of Darkness. The only remaining major change is that rather than purchasing/choosing a single power when you purchase a dot in a power, you unlock all powers appropriate for your dots in that Discipline, not counting Amalgams which require both respective disciplines to be at their proper Dot levels to access. Of course, rules are negotiable to an extent. a Storyteller I have final say, but I prefer that all participant are enjoying themselves during session and if something starts to hamper the fun for others, the door for communication is always open to get it sorted. THE STORYTELLER(What to expect from me) Alright! You can call me Dapper or Weevil. As a GM, DM, and Storyteller I have some decent experience, having run games of various systems for upwards of 8 years. I prefer substantive cooperative storytelling to be the main goal of games I run. Meaning, I want to craft an amazing, impactful, and emotionally challenging story with like-minded people, and explore the lore, universe, and characters of the setting in interesting ways. I want to play off of your relationships. I want you to know that your Touchstones and Values will be used to soothe, challenge, and even endanger your characters. I also value player freedom equally with story-based catharsis. If you choose a path I didn't expect, I'm not going to stone wall you, and I'll do the best I can to help you build your own path if you decide the ones presented to you don't hold interest. Of course, I'd prefer that you engage with the premise of the game, but how you do so is entirely up to you. I'll always be down to answer a question, either immediately, or later if I'm busy. I want everyone to have fun at my 'table', and so long as you meet me and the other players half-way you can be sure that you will. COTERIE AND APPLICATION General rules for players are quite simple, but we'll go more in depth during a 'Session 0' to clear up any misunderstandings. The most important things to note is that if you miss 3 or more sessions consecutively without good excuse (Holidays, emergency, Illness) you're likely to be booted from the game. Secondarily, this game will not be erotic in nature, and any such content is disallowed. Finally, preference is for players to be 18+. This game will contain dark subject matter, horror themes, and I as Storyteller will not shy away from disturbing topics in game. If you have something that you absolutely cannot live with being in a game, you can discuss it with me during or post application and we can work to limit or negate inclusion within the game, however if you apply you should expect some of the following themes/subject matters to be prevalent, and thus if they make you too uncomfortable I ask that you reconsider applying to this game. These include -Body Horror -Gore -Oppression and Discrimination -Torture -Substance Abuse -Mental Illness Note: Having these subject matters in the game does not mean that you are bound to inevitably encounter them or have them occur to your character, but they will be present.
