Tokens: As GM I see token but not when I switch to Player.

My word this is driving me crazy. Yesterday I spend > £100 in buying a subscription and Core D&D pack. Trying to set up the Tales from the Yawning Portal game for my group and I have temporarily given up on the Dynamic Lighting as this is also driving me nuts. I have figured out how to reveal the map in parts and am happy with that but when I switch to the Player to see what they'll see I cannot see my character Token. I have disabled all browser extensions, I have shared my Compendium, made the character again from scratch but updated the default token after making all changes, made sure the token is on the correct layer. I have even gone into my Registry and disabled the Microsoft Anti-Virus and cleared my cache. This is crazy. I am very busy with my work and having to spend sooooo much time trying to figure something as simple as this is frustrating beyond belief! Sorry for the rant but how hard does something have to be!! Seriously considering giving up before I have even gotten properly started. Please can someone help me before I lose my mind.
If you are using the ‘Rejoin as Player’, You need to make sure that you are listed on the character with ‘Can Be Edited and Controlled By’. However, the much preferable way to test things out is to use a ‘ Dummy Account ’. This will make troubleshooting token, character, and lighting issues 100% easier.
The answer to this problem cannot be that I have to create a dummy account. The system has a button that allows me to view as if I were the player. Why does this not work? I can select the token as the Player, and I can see the name printed, but I cannot see the token image. I have changed the permissions so that the token is within everyone's Journal and can be edited by all of my Players.
You need to give yourself the permission to view the sheet AT LEAST to have it in your journal when joined as Player! If you want to also be able to edit the sheet, you need to give yourself this permission, too! If you create a dummy account, you can use this in a private Browsing window so you can see the changes LIVE... You do NOT need this dummy account for testing, BUT you need to give yourself the permission to see the sheet in the journal. As for the tokens itself: Make sure, they are up front and on the token layer. As a DM you always see the tokens, however transparent while on GM Layer... Are you using Explorable Darkness (UDLs version of Fog of War)? If so that will obscure things. If you would like you can send me an invite and I will come look at your setup and figure out what is going on.
When I first began using Roll20 as a GM, I discovered some really good tutorials on YouTube. I found the series by CrashGem beginning with this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0VdUzyW14o&t=176s ) to be very helpful. These short tutorials are only slightly dated; most of what's changed from what he covers has to do with the later tutorials covering dynamic lighting, but even those are still helpful. When you say that you cannot see your character token, do you mean that you see noting at all, or that you can see the map but not the token? If you can see the map but not the token then I suspect that the token is not on the GM layer, which is invisible to the player. If the map itself is not visible (completely dark screen) then it may be because you have Dynamic Lighting enabled for the map but have not enabled vision for that token. I'm a little confused with your description as highlighted in the quoted text below. It may be just a question of nomenclature: The items in the journal are either character sheets or handouts; the tokens are the graphics that appear on the map when a character sheet is dragged there from the journal. Is the player ribbon on the page that you are editing? When you rejoin as player, you will see the player ribbon page, not necessarily the page you were editing as GM.
Thank you all so much for responding. I have figured it out now and have gotten things working. Apologies for becoming frustrated.

Thank you all, as a DM this info is amazing!
