Villagelder said: AI-training to produce art is much different. That is speculation, and isn't a legal fact until it has run through courts. It also may end up being something that varies nation by nation, which is something that Roll20 would have to address in the marketplace as well.

Or maybe things are more complex than that single article: https://kotaku.com/ai-art-images-theft-midjourney-stable-diffusion-glaze-1850235184 https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ai-stable-diffusion-stability-ai-lawsuit-artists-sue-image-generators/

Because your perspective does not belong to this suggestion topic and goes against the forum rules.

There is room for debate: https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/11379379/ But not here in a suggestion topic. You can vote, support, add, suggest but not argue against.

If you check the pinned post of this forum, what Sr. K is referencing. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1280734/read-first-posting-to-suggestions-and-ideas-updated-8-slash-1-slash-22 DON'T: Post a comment about why you don't like a suggestion. Post about why you think a suggestion is unnecessary, unworthy, or not important. Predict the response of the Dev Team or the likelihood that a suggestion will be implemented. Debate a posted workaround. This is a complex issue that does have a pretty good chance (in my opinion) of hitting smaller creators hard. Especially any who may have stored some of their creations on a site that was used to train AI. I was unable to find an article I read several weeks ago about a poet that ended up having most of her material be used in training an AI, resulting in that AI being able to mimic her style of composition very well. I don't recall whether any of her work was publicly accessible from that site (one of the reasons I was trying to find the article).
Hey all! I've been working hand in hand with artists, publishers and other software companies to continue these conversations. Your suggestions, and those conversations, are a big source of the inspiration behind our current policies, that we're continuing to discuss and amend as needed. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/11379379/ai-generated-artwork-policy-updates Because the policy has been created and conversations are still ongoing, I'm going to close out this thread for good hygiene. If there are conversations people want to have or suggest about the policy in place, feel free to open a new thread for that discussion. Thank you for your thoughts, and wishing you all the best.
