Constant level up for my characters

Since the new update of Charactermancer level up next to character class (December 2022), it appears that it is no longer linked to the XP level and that players can do as many level ups as they want. Anyone with the same issue? If so, please fix...

The button is now present at all times, tell your players not to push it. There has been many complaints about the new button.
They did add a compromise to the "always on" red Charactermancer icon: The icon now flashes when the XP total reaches the required amount to level up. You need to instruct your players not to touch that red icon unless it's flashing.
While I agree that they should simply restore the old functionality, they seem curiously reluctant to do so. I've put in a feature request to allow disabling it, and Saul J added a list of other modes. But so far it's only garnered 12 votes, which suggests that this is a niche problem only bothering a few of us. If that's not the case, please vote for the feature change if you have votes (and a "me to" post on that thread is still helpful if you don't, as it keeps it visible on the first page). https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/11241179/add-game-setting-control-to-fully-disable-charactermancer

So I doubt it is a niche problem that is only bothering a few of us. I imagine many people don't bother voting at all anymore because they have seen the evidence for themself. -Adam
I'm well aware of the developers ability to ignore even popular suggestions, either for design reasons or because they are technically hard/problematic in some way. You can hardly avoid noticing all the high-voted suggestions that are still open after seven years. And their "this isn't really a problem" response when it first came up suggests that this one isn't going anywhere either. But if you don't up-vote something you want, then it's even less likely to catch their notice. Having only 11 (12 today) votes just reinforces the opinion that this isn't a concern to most. I've voted for some of the 7-year-old suggestions, because they do matter to me. And in the past year, the developers have addressed some longstanding issues. And the closure of the old portal and the increased vote supply for Suggestions indicates that they're now paying more attention to those. I'm not giving up hope just yet. I'm also not expecting miracles.

Anyone with the same issue? If so, please fix... Players have always been able to do as many level-ups as they want. The only difference is the position and appearance of the button on the main tab. The button on the settings tab has always been there and available. Players can always edit their character sheet to have whatever values they feel like putting there. The possibility of characters editing their sheets in any way shape or form has not changed and continues to be an honor system. Telling players not to level up whenever they feel like it should be on the same unspoken level of telling them not to change their strength to 30 on a whim.

I'm also not expecting miracles. I'm honestly not sure that is the case Ken. What new features Roll20 decides to work on seems to be decided by them in a closed process. Its certainly possible that they could see a suggestion and decide to work on it, but the odds are strongly stacked against that possibility. As far as the increased vote total, that indicates to me that votes matter even less. We can still only add a single vote to an idea - some users have hundreds or even thousands of votes now due to the change in how many votes people receive. I don't see how having significantly more votes implies Roll20 will take voting any more seriously. I certainly don't want to be a wet blanket and I applaud you for still believing in the process (and not expecting miracles.) I've been around too long and seen too much evidence to the contrary to have any hope that things will change. -Adam
