Linking Handouts Across Games

I've created a homebrew compendium that I would like to use across multiple games.  I currently have the handouts in the compendium linked via the square brackets [ ], but I can't link a handout from one game to another that way (that I know of).  Is there a way to link handouts from one game to a handout in another? Thanks!
With a free or Plus account, you'd need to manually recreate all the connected handouts in each game.  You could subscribe to a  Pro account, use  transmogrify  to copy all the handouts between games, then downgrade back to a free account the following month. The transmogrifier was originally my main reason for getting a Pro vs. a Plus account. (That was before I discovered MODs, which turned out to be way more useful than I thought they would be.)

Hi Andrew! The URL for a handout is only resolvable within the game that it inhabits. You can create universal links for images (which are in your art library, or compendium entries (which exist in the larger Roll20 space), but handouts are only within a game context.

One thing you can do on a free (or any subscription level) account is to copy the game you have created with all those handouts.  Then you move your active games into copies of that base game.  At the free level, you wouldn't be able to transfer the characters in, so they would need to be copied in by hand. Of course, whether it is worth it to do this is at least partly dependent on how much other content you have created in each previously active game. This method won't work if you are running modules.
Good to know that the transmogrifier maintains the links.  That was a concern.  Reason I wanted to cross-link across games was to maintain the compendium.  I only wanted to make a change, when necessary, in one place. Is there an editable/homebrew compendium option now? Thanks again for the responses!
Not yet. That's another use for the transmogrifier: I keep all my customized NPCs and monsters in a "library" game then transmogrify them into the active game as needed. I'm really not trying to sell you a Pro subscription! If I could efficiently run a game with a free account I would. :) Andrew K. said: Is there an editable/homebrew compendium option now?

Andrew K. said: Is there an editable/homebrew compendium option now? Not at this point in time. It's a very popular suggestion, but the way that compendium data interacts with character sheets can be complex and break easily (every sheet and every compendium interact differently). Roll20 has said that it is very interested in the idea*, but nothing solid has ever been announced, to my knowledge. *With the merger with One Bookshelf, easier compendium editing would allow more creators to provide this feature.
You CAN link to websites in a handout. Example, a Google doc that acts as a compendium of sorts. You can change the info in the Google doc without having to change anything in the handout. Or, maybe you have your own website with all the info. So, you make a handout that is essentially a table of contents with each entry linking to where you are keeping the info. You can copy the contents of the handout to other games.
