What is the setting about in this game of Band of Blades? In this game, the players are a military squad dispatched to deal with demons that have taken over a city. You will play as the officers that choose what missions will lead to victory. For example, you might need more soldiers for your army. So you might choose to go on a recruiting mission, paying food to the starving or gold to the skilled mercenaries to get soldiers. Then after the officers have chosen the right men, equipment, and mission to do - you will play the soldiers that take on that particular mission. In the recruiting mission, you probably select soldiers that are better at persuading others and looking out for demonic threats....or possessed would-be soldiers. Why learn to play Band of Blades? It has a unique system where players are the only ones who roll dice to move the game forward ( the story teller/DM does not roll any dice). You roll a number of d6 ( six sided dice) and take the highest roll. On a 6, you have a critical effect, you do exactly what you describe. On a 4-5 you do what you describe but its complicated by a bad result. On a 1-3 your action has bad consequences for your character. For example, you wish to wrestle a robber to the ground before he steals your food. You describe that you twist his arm behind his back to disable him with pain. You roll 2d6 because you are average at this action. Your highest result is a 4. The storyteller describes how you twist the arm behind his back, hurting him but the robber managed to draw a knife with his other hand and nick you with it. You can also spend a limited resource known as stress to improve your rolls or do a Flashback - your character goes back in time to make an event possible that you just thought of . These are events such as hiding pistols underneath a negotiation table in case you needed them, planting mines in the way of an enemy, or having met someone in a particular part of a city months ago when you were did something here.
