[LFP] [18+] [DND 5e] [Friday - Weekly - 1700 PST/2000 EST] [Long Term] [Greyhawk]

Hey, everyone! I'm starting a new game that's set in an alternate universe version of Greyhawk .  I am looking for four to five creative, mature serious players who are eager to explore a world of high magic, political intrigue, danger and mystery! Summary: The Sign of Four is an adventure that starts out as a mystery in a village located on the western edge of the Gnarley Forest . There may be a dungeon or two depending on leads uncovered by the party. Some wilderness exploration may be involved and includes some sandbox elements. What happens after that depends on the party's goals, interests and motivations. You will forge alliances with individuals who might not be quite who they seem, uncover stories and tales lost to time, and face unspeakably dangerous odds. The adventure is quite combat heavy on its own, but much depends on the players themselves. In general, I typically aim to have a ratio of 60:40 RP to combat, although I can adjust as needed depending on the group's preferences. When:   5 pm to 9 pm, Pacific time every Friday. That's 1700 to 2100 PST. If you're in Eastern time, that's 8 pm to 12 midnight EST. You might have to adjust for your local time zone. I'm open to other time slots but this is the one that works best for me.The duration of each session is going to be around four hours but if possible, I would like to be able to run an occasional longer session as well. Setting:  This game occurs in a homebrewed version of Greyhawk that ignores all the events that occurred starting with the Greyhawk Wars and beyond. In this version of Oerth , the current year is 577 CY ("CY" stands for "Common Year") and it has been eight years since the Battle of Emridy Meadows occurred when the Great Alliance between the nations of Furyondy , Veluna and the elves of Celene withstood the combined might of the Horde of Elemental Evil and triumphed but not without great cost. Greyhawk is a fantasy game setting most closely identified with earlier editions of D&D. It's my preferred setting other than the Forgotten Realms, and since it's not as well known, that just means it's an opportunity for me to introduce it to new generations of D&D players. Socialization: Your characters will meet several NPCs in the course of this campaign, each of which have their own interests, motivations, goals and back stories. Your characters' actions and words will have lasting consequences , particularly as the individual player characters and the party as a whole begins to acquire a reputation. Dangers: Since parts of the campaign involve sandbox elements, it's possible for your characters to stumble into situations where they might feel overwhelmed . As your characters will be starting out at 1st level, please note that powerful NPCs will react accordingly to unreasonable provocation. To ensure a realistic world, I typically don't edit any encounters on the fly. If you push yourselves too far, death can be a real consequence , unless otherwise discussed during session 0. About me: I am in my early 50's, and have been playing D&D for a few decades. Having said that, I have a little over six months' experience with 5E. Other things to note: We will be playing with RAW rules for the most part. Having said that, I will always consider exceptions where the rule of cool would make better sense. If you are new to 5E, that's ok, too! We can learn together. I don't do voices, and anyway, most of my attempts are variations of "nasal". :) On the other hand, I will always differentiate an NPC's appearance and mannerisms when describing them so that your imagination can fill in the blanks. What I lack in voice-acting ability, I like to think I make up for it by creating my own battlemaps and other visual aids as needed for the campaign. Please make sure to give prior notice before missing a session, if possible. I hope that you care enough about the campaign and other player characters to pay attention to their stories, even if those stories don’t explicitly involve you. On that note, please include the word “gladiators” somewhere in your reply. If you are interested, please reply to this message or send me a PM and include your Discord handle. Thanks for reading! I hope you have a great week!
Hi there--just PMed you. Fingers: crossed. :-)
Thanks. Sent you a friend request on Discord. We're probably not starting for a couple of weeks. I have to build the group first. Let me know if you have any questions.
