Freehand wall painting gone? Why?!

So it was some time since I've created maps from scratch...only to find out that you can't free hand paint the walls in lighting layer anymore. Why, by all the dieties of all the realms, would you take that feature away?! "Try polygon instead" yeah cool...try using polygon on any sort of more complex shapes of surfaces and dungeon walls :(. Please please give us free drawing of walls back ASAP

The freehand lines caused too many problems with dynamic lighting. I'm pretty sure that it was removed by popular demand. If you're dead set on using it anyway, you can draw the freehand lines on any other layer then move them to the DL layer, which can now be selected on the right-click menu. I personally never had problems using the polyline tool on complex curves, since I've never seen the need to follow the exact curves of caves and such. Letting the PCs see a bit of rock or masonry kinda helps them get the feel of the environment. The DL lines on the map below were all drawn with polylines.
Because freehand lines for walls cause ten million problems and no one should ever use them.
The DL lines on the map below were all drawn with polylines. Guess I just have to git gud then :D...thanks for the info, being very conservative person, I think I am gonna freehand and move most likely. Its not that I dont want my players to see the enviroment, but sometimes I just cant zoom in close enough not to make those lines just wierd

Polygon data: 14 points. Freehand data: 550 points. Freehand generates so many more points, which the lighting system has to make polygons out of in order to figure out what gets occluded. Aside from the fact that it's not supported, dynamic lighting performance for freehand paths will be much worse than polygon paths.
As others have stated, using the Freehand tool for DL lines causes far more problems because of the number of points created that then have to have light rendered against. I suggest using this Trick  to create finer DL lines for walls that contour to your map images.
