Many of the tokens available via purchase from modules, settings, and token sets each have their own token boarders, for example WOTC product tokens have a red boarder for some tokens, while others have blue, and 3rd party books such as Darrington Press use a purple boarder. As a person who prefers the same token boarder for my monsters and NPCs I believe it would be good to add the ability to select what boarders colours and designs are used within the game and allow for custom boarder designs to be uploaded to use on market purchases, saving both storage space and time. This can be done easily with little effort by adding a custom layer on tokens that allow for a boarder to be applied to it, as changing every token currently within the Roll20 market place is out of scope and not publishers may not have time to make the adjustments themselves. This custom layer is a transparent layer that can be accessed in the token settings and could most likely use the same or similar functionality as the token macro system already in place. Some creative ideas I can see being used is having different token boarders to simulate passive and aggressive npcs, along with a caution colour to simulate searching for hidden characters, using token boarders to show who a common enemy npc what faction they are aligned to.
