Map Grid Registration

Is there an easy way to align the grid drawn onto an imported map with the internal grid system? I've been hand nudging it by dragging my map to the right dimensions, but this is an unsatisfactory solution because: a) I have to zoom way out in order to have enough space to click and drag the corner of my entire map, at which point I can barely see the grid lines, and b) Even if I get the proportions exactly right, the snap-to-grid means the drawn lines aren't exactly synched with the internal grid, and c) Even if I got it perfect, there would still be two sets of grid lines visible. Edit: Oops, just realized I can disable the grid. Would be great to have a tool to make this easy. All it would take is a "grid registration tool" that lets you draw a rectangle (like a rectangle drawing tool) on your map image, and then bases the internal grid off of that rectangle. The grid could be adjusted automatically to any later stretching/shrinking/movement of the underlying map image.

Such a tool already exists: http://help.roll20.net/tabletop-aligning-maps/ Here is a help file I wrote for this purpose: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3688/map-alignment-and-you-or-101-ways-to-get-your-grids-in-a-row#post-3688 If you still need help please let me know. You should be able to get completely perfect alignment with the grid showing. - Gauss

Lots of good threads and articles on this subject. http://help.roll20.net/tabletop-aligning-maps/ https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3688/map-alignment-and-you-or-101-ways-to-get-your-grids-in-a-row#post-103117 But the way I prefer is to take the map into a graphics program (PHotoshop) and make it native for Roll20. THen I don't have to do any of waht they say in those articles, it just lines up the way I want it to. I also like to turn the grid opacity down to almost nothing so its not so distracting. Also I think the best maps are the gridless ones. Then you don't have to worry about this problem as much either. And the user can decide if he wants a grid or not through Roll20. Roll20 is based on 70pixles per inch or unit. So if you take your map, (you need exactly a whole number of units, get rid of any partial parts of the grid or add space to make a full unit) and make it a multiple of 70pixels it will fit perfectly. So if your map is 20x20 then you make it 1400x1400pixels. You can have problems when the map in question has a grid that isn't perfect. Then its never going to lineup very well. You line it up the best you can and then turn the opacity of the grid off and use the actual map's grid. If you have a map you are having problems with, get it to me and I'll fix it up for you if you aren't familiar with Photoshop or GIMP.
Thanks! Super helpful. I've been using my laptop and Ctrl-Click wasn't popping up the menu, so I had to plug in a mouse. The alt-drag trick wasn't obvious, but found it in the 101-ways post. Thanks again.
Strange...when I use the align tool on an existing page, the map object vanishes. It happened 3 times. But if I create a new page, add a map, and then align, it works.

Wow! Kind offer....I think I like this community. I think I'm ok for now; I'm just experimenting with the tools. And I've now deleted my pre-existing experiments, so can't replicate the "feature". But ty!
