I'm Sam, a forever DM with a who loves the adventure genre. Lost Mines is one of my favorite modules so i usually use it as a stepping point into other adventures. For people who have never played before it is an excellent place to start D&D! I alter the hell out of it so it is also a fun time for more experienced players too. My play style as a DM: - Run audio and speech through Discord and play through Roll20. Simple enough. - Rules make the game but can also slow it down, if it is taking too long to find an answer to a query we will just rules as intended it and can look it up after where needed. - Rule of cool can sometimes trump the (quite old now) 5E book so I heartily encourage players to be creative and to play into what makes sense for the characters. - I'm a sucker for a good narrative, with a balance for world building. That saying a good set piece battle against a dragon will help you to remember the McGuffin that needed retrieving even more!! - Session Zero and session 1 is completely Free as well as * trying to be professional and comprehensive to answer everyone's questions and organize the group. - Session length is 4-5 hours, but I'm not exact about it. We go until the best narrative stopping point as close to the 4-hour mark as possible. - Timetable, looking to have weekly games to keep them fresh in everyone's mind. most likely aiming to start 7-8pm GMT as I am based in the UK and have kids. Weekdays and Weekends are available. Most official content is permitted. I also ask that flavour be more important than power builds ( there is a place for strong characters but outshining you team can get old) any third-party sources such as Kobold Press I may veto if it doesn't fit the party/campaign. However, I am open to re-flavoring existing things to make what you dream of work). e.g intelligence Warlocks or constitution Sorcerers. For Stats I will ask the party what they would like to do, roll or Standard Array or Point Buy. If rolling I like to keep it simple. 4d6 drop the lowest and you can gamble to reroll the whole roll "once"! Keeping the second set. IF you want to play evil characters you should consider your party first. these are your friends and you wouldnt be evil to them would you? being sensible about being bad makes for a better character ( no moustache twirling orphanage burning cackle allowed..!) - we are all here to have fun together, after all! If you're interested, please make a post in the Applications thread below. Excited to play some D&D with you!
