Hey all.. I'm seeing if there is any interest for a mash-up of RP and Boardgame. It'll be themed riffing off Space Crusade (Milton Bradley - early Warhammer 40k feels) and Alien RPG (Free League) rules for actions and combat, and run every day for about a week. This game might be quite niche, and I'm not even exactly sure if it will work.. but it's something I'd like to try! This is my first test game, so it's going to focus mainly on the round mechanics and combat, and less on the RP. But.. if it's successful we could turn it into a campaign, and start to introduce more RP mechanics. Game Features - Free to play. New players welcome. Mature players preferred. - Light RP / Board Game style action. Rules will be as clear as possible, more board-game style than creative RP. - Max Players [15] If we get a high number of players we'll be split into teams of 5. PvP or collaboration between teams is possible. - A Discord channel will be live - if anyone wishes to chat (text or live) during the game. - Roll20 will be used for the Game Board, and it'll have Lighting/Sight/Visibility as a key mechanic. A snapshot of the board will be taken each day and posted on Discord. (Teams will only see what their characters see) - GM will only be active via text chat posts and occasional live texting. (I have a kind of performance anxiety that prevents me from playing typical live RP) I'm basically trying a mashup of styles. Space Crusade - the classic board game. and Alien RPG - free league - fun pushed rolls and stress ruleset. - The theme will push more towards Space Crusade than Aliens. Think Warhammer Space Marines hitting a space hulk. - Players will assume the roll of a space marine, either a captain, medic, heavy weapon's specialist or grunt. We will use Character sheets from Alien RPG! - The game will run for a maximum of 10 days only. This is the time it takes for the derelict craft you are on to fly too close to the Sun and burn up. - High chance of character deaths. Don't get too attached to your characters. - Each Round, players will have 24 hours to take their turns. No initiative order, player death only happens at the end of a round. - Enemies/Aliens will take their actions by the GM spread within the 24 hrs also. - Any round resolution needed will happen at the end of the round, before a new round start is declared. This might interest you if you like sci-fi board-games and miniature wargaming. I'm somewhat familiar with warhammer 40k, Space hulk etc. This might interest you if you like sci-fi roleplaying games, but curious to try something a bit more casual/board gamey. If this sounds interesting to you.. ping me a message of interest or reply on here, or join me on discord. Feel free to ping questions on this post also.
