Jumpgate Issues

December 19 (1 month ago)

I migrated my game to Jumpgate.

First day worked like a dream: no issues.

Second session was a nightmare. One of the players could not get into the Jumpgate game and got in the Legacy Backup instead: it took a while till we realized what was going on. He tried many times but there was no way he could get into the Jumpgate session. I tried to delete the account and add him again into the game, to no avail.

Then I ended up opening simultaneously both Jumpgate and Legacy backup in the same browser / different Windows so as to share content. This was not working well as from time to time my Jumpgate game was suddenly converted to the legacy (probably the system did not like having the 2 sessions open simultaneously).

Let's see how I fix this access issue tomorrow.

Hi Whurn H.,

Regarding the player that could not get into Jumpgate. It might be due to them being in both games they were opening the wrong game by accident.
Alternately, it could be a cookies/cache issue.

Please have the user try to get into the game before the next session. If there are still issues please send them here so that they can get help with the issue.

Regarding opening two games simultaneously, the accidentally flipping to the second game is normal behavior when you hit refresh.
Open game A
Next open game B
If you hit refresh in game A it will open game B instead. It has always been this way and is not a bug.

If you open the two games in two different browsers (Chrome for "A" and Firefox for "B") this will not happen.

It can also happen if someone is loading the game from a bookmark.

Another thing which is not working is that all images/tokens etc. snap to grid and (unless they are a perfect square) deform. This happens even if the grid is off.

Hi Kobold Tom!

Can you give some more information on this? Do you mean when dragging an image from your library? If so, to which layer? Or do you mean that objects snap and deform as you move them around? Does this behave differently in Classic?

Hello Guys,
Im creating a new Jumpgate-based game and realized that assigned Songs, which i have uploaded are not played automatically, when i open a new page/map.

Playing a song automatically is completely ignored.

Any ideas why?

best,

Normen

IIRC, the player flag also needs to be on that page.

When I modify maps in Jumpgate, they won't resize in real time I have to refresh the whole page to get it to update.

I also have a player who was able to get into jumpgate one week and then couldn't the next, despite all their efforts. Tried private windows to avoid any extensions being an issue, knowing that bookmarks somehow are suspect is a new one, but what kind weird setup do they have going on where a bookmark can be the culprit? They do know we pay for this right?

The issue with using a bookmark isn't limited to just Roll20. There are a few other sites (a bank and some others that are picky about security) where I need to type in the name of the web site instead of using a shortcut. At least with roll20 you can use a shortcut to get to their home page then join a game from there.

Edited to fix typos.

Hi Loki!

It's possible that the bookmark issue comes from booting a player from a game. This automatically changes the URL for security purposes. I have about 6 games with complete bookmark folders for each page (home, launch, mods, etc.) and they work fine for years, so long as no one is booted. Then they have to be re-set.
