Player modified HP

I may be a lazy DM but I would like to have the players be able to edit the NPC’s bars (i.e. HP) without actually seeing the current numbers. I allow my players to just tell me the damage they have done as long at the “to hit” roll was higher then the minimum that has hit in the past. If I could have them just apply the damage as well it would free me up to do more behind the screen. Also more complicated but the ability to handle damage types and damage reduction would be very nice. I will make a new post for more on this.
three words, API, API, API. Technically that is nine, but you get it.
I may be dumb but what's api.
Application Programming Interface. It'll be mentors only... so you'd have to upgrade to get access to it once it becomes available.
so i take it that anyone that wants to use the option would need to know how to program it. that kine of makes the accessibility less.
Or they can just copy / paste stuff from other people that share it on the forums. Besides... it is supposed to be an advanced feature, not meant for everyone.

i do control then but if others help with the bookkeeping i find things go faster and smoother. on the real table i still need to track all this but a player tracks as the players cannot know HP and the like. but one of my players (my wife) track  initiative. one less thin on me so i can pay  attention  to other details of the combat. many other DM we have played with have started using this  practice  once she offers to do it for them. i  embrace  the  technology  and would welcome the aid in mundane book keeping as long as it does not give the players info they should not have.
Why not just give a trusted player control of the NPC token so that they can edit the fields?
i could do that but i do not whant the players to aculy know the HP total. i can just use it as a couldt up insted of down. then all they would know is the totale damage done witch they could track in any method. i just thout it would be a nice option.
It's fun to give players some interaction at the table. This is a tenet of Savage Worlds, for instance. It speeds up play and strengthens player understanding of the mechanics. This is a good idea for a feature.

(sic) In the current system you can just edit the HP as "damage done", not necessarily total HP.  I.e.:  -20, if the 20 is confusing. Fatigue on a token works well this way as well, since players/NPCs normally haven't accrued any...  you just leave it blank.
