[LFP] Wednesday Nights 7:45 to 11pm [EST] [D&D 5E 2014 rules] [21+ only play group]

Experienced (15+ years) improv style DM seeks players to round out a play group for a high magic dark fantasy campaign. (LGBTQ+ Friendly) Play time 7:30pm ~ 11pm Wednesday nights. Age request not for roleplay or subject matter the group just tends towards an adult audience. Starting character lvl 3 and multiclassing is fine. We use Discord for voice chat, play with a certain amount of theater of the mind, but also like a good map for reference in combat and for the world. Homebrew setting and minor mechanical adjustments to character sheet to improve gameplay with easy onboarding. I have experience with high level play and employ additional homebrew spells, classes, and magic items on top of the core source books and select third party source books. The story so far: Jailed for false crimes the party has incited a jailbreak riot beneath the crimson tower of the blood empress. Escaping the pits of misery at great cost they found themselves in a magical puzzle house. Working to overcome the challenges within they have now escaped and prepare themselves to attack a tyrant, a thousand years and rivers of blood in the making. Join in the escape, break the shackles of oppression, and find allies along the way as you seek justice from those at the peak of the empire. If any of this sounds interesting to you please consider filling out the following and submitting a copy of it as a direct message and feel free to request additional information. Preferred Name: Preferred Pronouns (he/she/they/etc): Age: Discord name (feel free to dm if you don't want to broadcast it): A pitch for a character you think would be interesting to play mechanics or flavorwise: What you generally look for in a campaign/playgroup/DM: How would you best describe your preferred playstyle: Favorite homebrew you have used or seen before if any (if you haven't that is ok too): Do you have any experience or interest in other TTRPG systems? If so which ones?: In your own words briefly describe what roleplay means to you:
I'm one of the players. It's a very fun and cool game, and you should definitely join us!
Preferred Name:  Eric Preferred Pronouns (he/she/they/etc): He/Him Age: 47 Discord name (feel free to dm if you don't want to broadcast it): A pitch for a character you think would be interesting to play mechanics or flavorwise:  Either a Goliath Cleric(tempest) or a Tabaxi Rogue What you generally look for in a campaign/playgroup/DM:  fun!  but also making new friends, but fun mostly! How would you best describe your preferred playstyle:  Laid back/easygoing Favorite homebrew you have used or seen before if any (if you haven't that is ok too):  someone did this in a game once where you roll 18d6 for stats and you reroll whichever rolls you wanted, then you add the stats numbers together however you wanted to make your stats.  It was different Do you have any experience or interest in other TTRPG systems? If so which ones?:  Savage worlds, Palladium books, Icons, Dungeon world and a few others. In your own words briefly describe what roleplay means to you:  To immerse yourself and to have fun doing so in a game you would only read about in books.  Im not a good roleplayer but I try my darnedest.
Preferred Name: Tony Preferred Pronouns (he/she/they/etc): He/Him Age: 41 Discord name (feel free to dm if you don't want to broadcast it): TJteach A pitch for a character you think would be interesting to play mechanics or flavorwise: I have yet to play a wizard (war magic) or sorceror (divine soul) ever in my nerd career (they always get picked before I can raise my hand) and would really like to but I also have a paladin concept that popped in my brain as soon as I read the jailbreak line. I also have a barbarian concept. TLDR: I have 1252 concepts, whichever one can be tailored to the story/campaign the best. What you generally look for in a campaign/playgroup/DM: As long as we're all on roughly the same page, there's no antagonism towards/from the DM, and nobody is trying to be "That Player". How would you best describe your preferred playstyle: I like character RP and storytelling, not a method actor by any means and like to have fun/laughs but when the table strays into too constant jokes/derails tends to ruin the immersion or investment into the collaborative story we're all telling. My philosophy is also "I'm never gonna be mad about something that's done to me on graph paper." I'm here for the campaign moments good or bad. Favorite homebrew you have used or seen before if any (if you haven't that is ok too): One that I've used is a "Destiny roll or whatever" so whenever a session(s) is gonna spotlight a character(s) especially, I have them roll a d100 then I roll one and if I roll under what they rolled then Fate intervenes as some point to give them a cool narrative or cinematic moment, even if it's not 100% a happy one. One I've seen, that is now official content, but the original homebrew Kender from Dragonlance WAY back in the day I feel like represented them better than the more recent revisions. Do you have any experience or interest in other TTRPG systems? If so which ones?: Back in college we played a one-shot/weekend-shot of just about every system invented (World of Darkness, Star Wars, Mutants and Masterminds, Shadowrun, Warhammer, etc.) But as the years have gone on it's mostly been D&D, with some Pathfinder/Star Wars/40k sprinkled into the mix. In your own words briefly describe what roleplay means to you: I mean, not to copy Eric above me, but I feel like he hit the nail on the head. The excitement of telling a fun and dramatic and memorable collaborative story that only TTRPGs are capable of is second to none.
Thanks to the folks who are applying! We appreciate the interest and hope to be able to get back to you soon. If other people still want to apply though it's not too late just yet.
