Anyone interested in shorter sessions?

Greetings! I’m Kenz (she/her), and I hope you’re having a great day! :) For the past two years, I’ve been really wanting to get into TTRPGs, but… I find it difficult to sit still longer than 3 hours.  Browsing Roll20, I’ve noticed that most campaigns tend to last around 4 hours per session, so I thought that (rather than giving up immediately) I’d put some feelers out to see if there are any folks out there who are interested in 2-3 hour sessions like I am. (I do realize that there is only an hour’s difference between 3 and 4 hour sessions, but I believe that 3 is truly the limit for me)  I am admittedly incredibly inexperienced as a player and have never DMed before, but I would be willing to DM (or let someone else DM) some one-shots (DND 5e or other games) if there are folks like me who share this preference. Also: If these one-shots are lots of fun for everyone involved, then I’d maybe consider organizing / participating in an actual campaign in the future.  Apart from shorter sessions, there are a few other things I’d want to prioritize. Namely, players who are good-spirited and collaborative. I’ve watched a handful of campaigns (and one-shots) on YouTube and the best ones are always those not only in which each player has a chance to shine but also in which they can build off of others creatively.  Further, I will not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, agism, xenophobia, any other kind of discrimination, or sexual harassment. The safety of everyone involved is my top priority. I’m 27, so ideally our group would consist of folks around my age (20s-30s) so that we’d relate with each other more. If any experienced players are interested, I’d be happy to take advice— and if you want to DM, I’d love that, too.  I’ll put a list below of what TTRPGs I’ve watched on YouTube so you can get a good idea of the (range of) vibes that I’m used to: HyperRPG’s Kollok 1991 (using the Kids on Bikes system) Dimension Twenty’s Adventuring Academy (season 1) Smosh Games’ Sword Af (season 1)  Dread (also on Smosh Games) Drawtectives (on Drawfee)  If I end up DMing, I can’t promise that I’ll nail the pacing, but I will do my best to create a balance of RP, problem-solving (not necessarily puzzles, but situations that require you to navigate a conflict or obstacle), and combat. I think that the tone would include a mix of light-hearted and serious moments, but I could adjust that based on player preference.  And alsooooo if I’m DMing, I wouldn’t be able to jump in immediately because I would need to do all of the prep work.  DISCLAIMER: I can’t promise that this will become anything more than an idea (as you all know, life is very good at throwing curveballs right at your face), but at the very least it might help people like me meet other folks who are looking for shorter session lengths.
Two hours i think is what im most used to aswell! Id like to try out one-shots if you are ever planning on hosting them. I know 5e but i am eager to learn new systems. Do you have a discord server planned or other way of organizing potential members?

Not going to lie I can’t stand running or playing a session past 3 hours, I don’t know if it’s because of my ADHD or because I find it mentally exhausting after a certain time. I’ve only ran one campaign and played one campaign with 4 hour sessions but I’ve regretted both times playing for too long. That’s why every campaign afterward and even my newest Warhammer Fantasy game I’m organizing has a hard limit of 3 hour sessions.
I think the thing that limits this is that people may be putting an evening aside to play on r20. For a very short session, is it worth it? There are many other things to do.
Hey Kenz,  I'm Sam (she/her) I too enjoy shorter sessions of 2-3 hours. I'd love to join if you you do manage to get a group together (depending on timings etc). I have DM's myself before but I have an ongoing game and wouldn't want to take on too much with another game as DM right now. I've only ever played DnD 5e so far.
2-3 hr sessions are great! I DM for my friend group and we always run shorter sessions. One important thing to keep in mind with 2-3 hr sessions is that because you have less time, you can't do as much. For my group, this usually means that sessions are purely rp or purely combat, very rarely do we do both in one session.
I'm running a 3 hour Friday night game 8pm to 11pm EST DnD 2024 with updated 2014 subclasses if not already updated in main book.  If interested.  With life committments we can't do more than 3 hours ourselfves either.  Game is 5th level where heroes are trying to bring back the sun that had it's last sunrise 27 years ago.   The world is being overun by an empire of vampires
