Testing macros on mobile

   Please consider a way to test macros on a mobile device. Currently, attempting to run a browser into the main roll 20 site is really tough on a cell phone. If I could wave a magic wand, a nice mobile Optimized macro editor would allow The community to Fine-Tune Our macros well ahead of game night. Maybe it is just me. Do others get a kick out of tweaking their macro ideas over and over until it looks perfect?


I praise the roll 20 mobile app. If there was a way to integrate it into that that would be awesome.


I also praise the new Jump gate when viewed at landscape on a cell phone. My idea would be even more optimized for mobile


Lastly, precisely simulating the main website's interface behavior in a test bed could prove difficult. My alternative suggestion is to implement a straightforward visual cue—a green light for success or a red light for failure—to indicate whether the author's macro is operational or needs refinement.

I waste SO much time tweaking macros, lighting, and visual effects. I probably need an intervention.

That said, the mobile app hasn't been upgraded since sometime in 2022, so I don't have any hope for any new functionality.

(Personally I can't see getting any kind of GM work done on a phone (not enough screen). I don't even see how people manage on a tablet. I need at minimum a 24" monitor - preferably 2 of them.)

Well to be clear,  i am writing macros for player work. Not GM.  The right mechanic for Boldness potion plus other damage type stacking.  Elemental Adept took the longest.


The pithy catchphrase to go with the calculation takes time too.


Anyway marrying the 2 is what I want to do while away from laptop

It often feels like a fresh perspective, gained after stepping away from the problem, could lead to a solution. This post explores a common scenario where I'm away from my computer and the Roll20 chat log, yet a particular macro continues to vex me (no pun intended). My aim is to discuss methods for reviewing and experimenting with macros directly from a mobile device in such situations.

Would you be interested in exploring some strategies for mobile macro debugging, or perhaps sharing your own experiences with this challenge?

This is my final thought on what I'm looking for, and it really gets to the heart of the matter. Often, it's the creative spark of a Roll20 macro that I wish I could tinker with on the go. It's all about that immersive role-playing experience. You know how it is: you're just going about your day, a little bored, and then something catches your eye that screams, "My character could totally do that!" Maybe you're watching a superhero movie and a scene sparks an idea for your superhero RPG, or you see a natural phenomenon and immediately envision a new spell effect for your Dungeons & Dragons campaign. In those moments, I'd much rather just grab my phone and refine that macro idea right then and there, instead of scrambling to my laptop and trying to decipher a cryptic reminder email I sent myself.
