Cannot remove player access from sheet

I'm trying to edit and remove the control of one players character sheet. But it keeps showing me a popup that says "you cannot remove a characters owner from "can be edited  & controlled by" or from in a player's journal.

What is this? I'm the DM i should be able to remove permissions from my players to access certain character sheets...

If the player created the character using Roll20's Characters then they "own" the character. Also, I think that if the GM allows players to create their own new character sheets in a game - vs. the GM creating a sheet then allowing the played to edit and control it - the sheet acts as if created by Roll20's Characters.

Edit: I don't like it either. The player can keep the character in their account, but the GM should have control of all Character sheets within their game.

Hi Nova,

This is because the character was created by the player using the +Characters button or via importing it from Roll20 Characters.

When a player uses +Characters it links the character to Roll20 Characters. Roll20 Characters cannot be removed from that player's control.

If you would like to prevent this in the future you would need to go into your game's settings and turn off "Allow Players to create their own Characters?" and turn off "Allow players to transfer Characters?".

With all that said, you may duplicate that character and then remove the character from the game.
Note: sometimes removing characters is bugged (one of the problems with Roll20 Characters).
