Size of doors and other openings in purchased modules that use dynamic lighting.

I've noticed that in some purchased modules that include dynamic lighting, but whose maps were not originally drawn with a VTT i mind, the doors and other such openings aren't wide enough. For example, in the  Curse of Strahd module that I  purchased here on Roll20, the maps use the same graphics as the ones included with the physical product but with dynamic lighting barriers, lighting and tokens added. However, the openings (doors, etc.) on these maps are usually drawn less than one grid square wide, and when the DL barriers were drawn to match these drawing the gaps are too narrow to allow players to move their tokens through. Because of this I've had to manually alter or re-create the DL barriers for most of this module. I could move the player's token through the doorways for them, but that's annoying to both me and my players and tends to break immersion. I don't really expect a fix for existing modules, but in the future this should be taken into account when converting published material for use on a VTT.

HI Rick A.,  Could you provide some examples of where you see problems with the Doors? Map (page) name and screenshots would be helpful.

SPOILER ALERT FOR COS -> This post contains views of a map from that module   Here's a screen shot from Curse of Strahd, Chapter 5, Burgomaster's Mansion, 1st floor. Note how the doors and windows are less than 1 grid square wide.  As seen on Object layer: Gauss said: HI Rick A.,  Could you provide some examples of where you see problems with the Doors? Hey Rick! Using a test token with barriers restrict movement, I was able to use the cursor key to pass through all doors without issue, save for the one between P and Q. I was still able to go through that, but I had to manually drag the token through. I experimented with both Ctrl L as a gm and also as a player with two separate tokens. Is there another way I should be performing this test? I did my test assuming the token movement would start snapped to the grid.
Hi Keith, That's very strange. Both using CNTL+L as GM or logged in with my dummy account as a player, I can't get my test token through any of those doors either using the cursor or mouse. I also started with the token snapped to the grid. P and Q? You must have tried the other floors of that map as well as the one I pictured :) Somewhere I got the impression that as long as the token's "collision box" that is visible on the  Lighting layer fit through the gap, the whole token should be able to move through, but that hasn't been the case for me. If I don't make sure that the gap is a full grid square I and my players always get stuck. keithcurtis said: Hey Rick! That is weird. Are you running on Legacy? I tested on the current engine.

No, this is a Jumpgate game that I created recently. My older campaign is drawing to a close and I'm prepping for the next one. This token movement behavior has been consistent for me the entire time that I've been using Roll20 (since July of 2020) and with both Chrome and Firefox  Edit: Windows 10, Nvidia Gforce graphics card. Browser add-ons: Stylus, Malwarebytes, Dashlane

Very strange. Since I can't test for platform, if you want to PM me an invite, I'll check from Mac. I doubt it's platform-dependent though. You have not edited the page settings in any way? (Other than to turn on walls block movement, of course).

Well, I was about to send you a link but then decided to test a few of the other maps. Then went back to this one and tested it again. So ... now it works. <facepalm> I have no idea what happened between this morning (about 10 or 11 hours ago) and now, but now my token sails through most of the openings without issue, and the few doors that "stick" - requiring a mouse-drag - look like the gap isn't quite aligned with the center of the grid square. I did have a Chrome update between then and now, but that doesn't explain all the past behavior, although my other game is almost 5 years old and has had other issues since I converted to Jumpgate  - although those issues also have been slowly disappearing as Jumpgate matures and the devs work out the kinks. keithcurtis said: Very strange. I had a weird issue with my grid being scaled differently on the vertical axis this morning, that persisted until I refreshed. Maybe there was a code push of some kind?
