Roll20 looks a bit different today.

I encountered some Cloudflare error messages a little while and and now the site looks like this. I don't really mind not seeing al the banners at the top, but it's still odd:

Hi Rick A., The change is intentional, the banner at the top has been changed, other elements have been moved/added/etc. as well. If you run into any issues please report them. :)
One bug related to the change I've just noticed is that inactive games in the my games section now show as "next game scheduled several years from now" rather than not scheduled at all.

on Game Details pages Players list is now ordered somewhat Alphabetical.. It's lost the ranking of earliest-players to Join the game. I would like to see an Announcement and documentation from Roll20 or even Changelog covering that.

Hi (un)reason, I am not seeing that, could you supply a screenshot and the url of the page you are on?

Although I think it might predate today's banner change. Regarding the "somewhat Alphabetical" in one of my games it seems to be alphabetical starting with Caps, then moving to lowercase names. So if you have George, jim, John, and Marty it will be: George John Marty jim Is that what you are seeing?
Outstanding. I like the change :) Gauss said: Hi Rick A., The change is intentional, the banner at the top has been changed, other elements have been moved/added/etc. as well. If you run into any issues please report them. :)

I've put together what your issue is, and I'm assuming what you've written isn't a direct quote. There is a bug with how that text is added to the menu, which shows the wrong verb ("is" instead of "was" for games scheduled for dates in the past). It's being fixed now. I've passed on the feedback to the team responsible for that work.

Regarding the "somewhat Alphabetical" in one of my games it seems to be alphabetical starting with Caps, then moving to lowercase names. So if you have George, jim, John, and Marty it will be: George John Marty jim Is that what you are seeing? I have at least 1 example of the Alphabetical doing something different: Echo, Guardtroll, Lokkur, Paul, Elise. As you can see "Elise" is not lowercase, and is not properly alphabetized. Screenshot available if needed. However I don't care about that, because Alphabetizing the names here is useless to me. Anyone can re-order a list of names in to Alphabet. There is no game-related functionality to alphabetizing (but there is for Join Date sorting). What was lost was the Seniority rankings. That's the issue that is materially affecting games. That's the loss of parity to what we had before, and the loss of a functionality that existed before. I have games with Players who joined 5-10 years ago, and they were always at the Top. Now they are de-moted on the Players list, that's the main effect of the change, to me. I have Players who joined this week, and now they are melded-in and cannot be easily re-identified as the new joiners. I reported it to Help Center and the answer was dissatisfying. AllHansOnDeck said: That was from a release on January 13, 2026 , which supported search and pagination for the Players section. I've passed on the feedback to the team responsible for that work. Thanks very much. I asked Help Center for the changelog to that and they were unable to provide it. My ticket has been open for 10 days. It is Help Center Ticket #392538. I appreciate you providing that Changelog link. I respect that the changelog gives the reason ("improves loading into West Marches /large community style games") and I have that type of game with 200+ players. And, the Pagination feature is good. Thank you again. The problem with this is: the Players list in the West Marches / large community game, has lost the Seniority ranking, in other words listing by Join Date, which was the Game Details Page expected behavior from 2012-2026 on Roll20. That is an issue for large games like that that have been using the earliest-join feature for many years on here. The earliest-join feature (Players at the top) also provided the Newest Members feature (players at the bottom of the list). In the new Game Details page format this is impossible for the GM to determine, who are the new members? Who are the original members? Can we get a Toggle for GM/users to choose the sort-order? That is something that deserves at-least an Announcement on Roll20 forums to explain and discuss. My group's GM's particularly would like to read an Announcement or Blog to tell about the change, at the very least. Do good communication to the users. Explain what the change does and why it was made. Tell us if we have the power to request modifications, like would you be able to program a toggle for us to choose the sort-order in the future? Old Game Details which listed Players by order of Join Date from 2012-2026: New Game Details adds Search and Alphabetical but sadly lost the Order of Join Date in January 2026:

Today it’s got a little blue 1 badge on a pink envelope to notify me of a message, but it doesn’t show the messages, just takes me to my Inbox, where there are no new messages. I had to look in the LFG page of my advertised games to find the posting and handle it. Once I’m home I’ll be using the Help Center and reporting the issue with screenshots. Edit: It's different in Chrome on my iPad compared to Chrome on my Mac Mini. <eyeroll>

That was showing the new messages when the cursor hovers over, specific messages can be viewed by clicking the button. Clicking the icon takes you to the inbox, and not changes were made to the inbox content, itself. I do agree that this experience is not as good as it could be on touch devices. I also think the inbox content could be changed to represent more kinds of messages sent on the system. What are your thoughts?

Gold said: Can we get a Toggle for GM/users to choose the sort-order? Thank you for providing this feedback, Gold! I went ahead and sent it to the team on Wednesday and just followed up on it today. When I have an update, I will post it here. That is something that deserves at-least an Announcement on Roll20 forums to explain and discuss. Gold, as you have been adventuring alongside us for quite some time and know this information already, this first section is just to make sure that anyone who reads this in the future understands our internal process a bit better. There are explicit features (ones that are planned by the people who make them) and implicit features (ways that software behaves, which users discover and then take advantage of). The order of Player icons being chronological is implicit. There is no date data shown in that section, and that is how the tech is structured. If we have the ability to change this in the future, we will let everyone know. However, as of right now, this is an implicit feature of the software. I appreciate you expressing how important this is to you, Gold. I am working to get the right people involved. You are correct that we should have been able to point to the exact changelog in your ticket. When we plan announcements, we try to balance the impact to the user experience and the number of users being impacted. If we were to announce every release and update that appears in the change log, it has the potential to become extremely overwhelming to readers to the point where our massive releases that affect a lot of users might get missed in the floor. For sure, always happy to hear you’d like to hear more from us, though. I’ll take that feedback into mind as we plan future release announcements.

AllHansOnDeck, The problem is the order of Player icons is no longer chronological. It seems to have changed to alphabetical. As a result it is more difficult for GMs to determine who gets into a game on a first-come first-served basis.

One of the sources for the feature Notifications page added in this release came from your comment there, and it's linked from the notification drop down. Clipped from there: Gold said: I would like to see Notifications be accessible as a Page (a webpage) not just as Drop-Down, and on that Notifications page they could be organized better and show more at a glance ... Thanks for the replies and info. I follow. The Notifications on a Page is cool. It is accessed under the Envelope Notifcations by pressing "View All". AllHansOnDeck said: Gold said: Can we get a Toggle for GM/users to choose the sort-order? Thank you for providing this feedback, Gold! I went ahead and sent it to the team on Wednesday and just followed up on it today. When I have an update, I will post it here. I would add this to the Toggle concept: Show Players Alphabetical Show Players by Date they Joined the Game Show GM's first I can submit it as a Suggestion if that would help. The new part is: Show GM's first. This would be helpful/useful for West Marches or large group games (which I help run 2 of those, 2E Tavern and Dark Sun Pick-up).
