Non-square background

I feel like I'm missing a trick.  I have some "background" images for the map layer from an art pack I bought through the site.  Whenever I try to drag one to the map layer it forces it to a 1x1 size and shape.  I can choose to resize it to the map (full screen to whatever dimensions) or changes the size of the map to match the 1x1 size.  Is there a way to just add it without it messing up the images aspect ratio?  I've found I can add each file individually to my library and do it this way, but I'd prefer to just be able to add it directly from the premium assets menu. Thanks...

It sounds like you are dragging the image out to the token, or gm layers. Those layers assume images are going to be tokens and fit them to the existing grid. The map later doesn't fit them to the grid. Dragging an image to the map layer will prompt you to resize the image or the page, or you can just close the modal to do neither.
Also, if you do want to drag an image to a layer other than the map layer, holding down the ALT key while dragging and placing the image will override the automatic resizing.

It should say this at the top of your Art Library panel in the VTT: Drag to place art, Alt-drag to retain dimensions So I always use the ALT key when dropping from the art library.  I don't like when any art is forced out of its original aspect ratio.  Note: On a Mac the ALT key may be labeled "Option" key
