In a high fantasy post-apocalypse, you are a member of the scarce and eclectic Demon Hunter's Lodge. The Demon Hunters are a rare group of people spiritually attuned to the Abyss and the evil spirits that pour forth from it into the world. Most people cannot perceive demons, but you can. They know this, and if you do not hunt them, they will hunt you. My goal is to run a series of one-shots around this concept until I can form a cohesive group who can help me tell the greater story uncovering the mystery of how the world ended and picking up the pieces in the aftermath of humanity's defeat. But for now, the story is as simple as going to the ruins of a seaside city infested by a water demon in order to banish it and liberate the survivors living there. We'll be using Pathfinder 1e as I find it's well-worth the price of admission in terms of effort. There are simpler systems but they don't have as many character-building options or as much depth to define your character and I find their gameplay limiting and redundant. I don't use battle maps, purely Theater of the Mind to allow for more creativity and spontaneity, as I like combat to be another opportunity for roleplay. In addition to Roll20 for character sheets/dice and Discord for voice (no video), I use Watch2gether to play music for my games. Music is a big part of my games and I spend a lot of time making a playlist for each session, often associating the meaning of songs with specific scenes. I often take an escape-room style design to encounters in which I present you with a problem that gradually escalates until you solve it, or don't. You can fail, death is on the table, particularly with exploding die (a single Double Nat 20 could be the end of your character's adventure depending on how narratively appropriate it is). I prefer serious roleplay over shits and giggles and players who aren't ashamed of trying their best tell a good story. DM me if interested. Song: Helpless Hope
