When a player or GM draws an AoE template for a buffing spell (such as a circle, cone, or aura), it would be great if roll20 could detect which tokens are inside the area and automatically apply the effect of the spell to those roll. For example, if a spell grants a bonus to attack rolls, saving throws, or temporary hit points, the system could automatically add the associated modifier or roll effect to all tokens within the drawn area. This feature would significantly streamline gameplay by reducing manual tracking of buffs, minimizing mistakes, and speeding up combat—especially in games with many tokens on the board. Ideally, the system would also update dynamically if tokens move in or out of the AoE, automatically applying or removing the effect as appropriate. Optional GM controls could allow toggling this on/off, Overall, this would improve automation, reduce bookkeeping, and make area-based buff spells much smoother to run during sessions.
