Everyone one knows the story of the crusade of Drunmor. It was a land so thick with darkness that the sun didn’t dare breach the clouds. The Solari Emperor sent his fearless armies over the mountains and crushed the mighty Ork warlords, freeing the Goblin and Ogren people and driving the monsters back into the dark. The new Dukedom was named Veilstead and was ruled by the steady hands of fair men. But that isn’t the end of the story for those that live in Veilstead. Generations after the crusade, steady hands grew old and younger more ambitious hands took charge. The glorious largess of the Solari Empire never seemed to make it across the mountains, leaving Veilstead’s children to struggle with poor lands to make a living. The angrier the people became the more ruthlessly peace was enforced. Corrupt nobility with strong armies began to turn on one another in petty wars that robbed Veilstead of their strongest and bravest. Worse still the darkness of Drunmor still lives in the deep forests and caves where the monsters never really left and men are afraid to tread. The Barony is full of former soldiers looking for money or trouble, and ruled over by a new Baroness who isn’t very favorable to loyalists who fought and lost in the war. It is a place where foolishness and careless mistakes have bad consequences The players will take on the roles of young people in a rural village in Veilstead. Most will have lost family members to recent wars with a neighboring barony. All will be coming of age in an uncertain time in the region. Characters are built on 75 CP, -25pts in Disadvantages, -5 Quirks. You are expected to have a trade represented by a primary skill with a minimum of 4 CP in it and two secondary skills with 2CP each. You pick the trade, I pick the skills. Exotic and Supernatural Advantages or Disadvantages will require GM Approval. Game will be run over discord for voice and Roll-20 for maps and visuals. Sessions on Sundays at 4PM PST and intended to run 4 hours but, I’d ask that players plan for a 5 hour game in case we start up something that can’t be wrapped up on time. I am only opening this game to adults. I don’t like being ageist, but given the theme of the game I don’t want to tie my players hands with what they can do or say around minors. The game world will be mostly PG-13, but there will be mirrored racism and some sexism and medieval economic exploitation. I expect players to make smart decisions about violence, and I will do my best to make any deaths that occur meaningful in the story. The game will be a sandbox Fantasy setting with few direct prompts for plots, but consequences will occur in the game if events aren’t addressed by the players. Play will emphasize a strong mix of Roleplay, and combat with avenues to solve problems through politics, NPC relationships or investigation. I’m a fan of player agency and player-driven storytelling. I’m happy to accept new players, but I’d ask that all players that apply either have some experience playing GURPS or are willing to download a free copy of GURPS-Lite and familiarize themselves with the rules. If you have limitations or concerns about participating in the game I’m happy to hear them, but ultimately my ability to accommodate you will need to fit within the needs of your fellow players and the story I am setting for this game. I have only two rules at my table: 1. Everybody plays like an adult. Show up before the start of game ready to play, or cancel with as much notice as is possible if you can’t. Do unto others at the table as you’d have them do unto you. Be patient with your fellow players. Show them respect, regardless of your outlook on their politics, religion, sexual identity, or favorite sportsball team. Don’t allow the particulars of your identity become a problem for others at the table. Be a team. Help one another have a good game. 2. Respect the GM. My job is large and takes a lot of time to bring you a game every session. I have multiple players to serve and I do make mistakes. My ability to run the game really does depend on you not making it more difficult. Be patient with me. Talk with me outside of game if you’re having a problem and give me a chance to fix it. If I run a rule in a way you don’t like I want to know about it, but if I make a decision after hearing you out, I need you to swallow your disagreement and let the game move forward. I review any disagreement about a rule and I’ll often correct a ruling but we all have a limited time to play and most folks don’t want to spend it listening to you and I sorting out rules. I have to follow this rule too. I must prep for game, I must be attentive to being impartial, I must create opportunities for everyone at the table to have fun, or else I’m not respecting the role. If you’re interested in joining message over Roll 20 with the answers to the questions below; -Player name: -Player Pronouns: -What’s your level of experience with GURPS?: -What’s your level of experience with Roll 20?: -Why do you like to play Roleplaying games?: -Name a character flaw that’s fun for you to play.: -Describe a bond you could have with with the character of someone else at the table, that doesn’t require them to put anything on their character sheet, but that would create a connection with one another.:
